Kimber's Challenge Purple

Sorry, I got behind. I am working on a promo for People/Target Festival. For these nails I used Nars Purple Rain and stamped with Red Angel plate 114 is used Color Club Wild at Heart. It is another monochromatic stamping which I am just loving. So, here is my favorite purple.

    Embossed Nails

It appears that this fall everything goes for nails.  I have been seeing all kinds of trends some good some not so good, but one that I originally saw was from The Polish Aholic where she had furry nails.  I thought it was really cool.  So, again I am at the craft store and remembered the nails.  So, I bought some flocking powder and went to town.  It is really cool but not practical if you wear contacts or have itchy eyes.  I think it is a one time wear but the flocking powder I got cost about $3.50 at JoAnne's.  I had a coupon though but I got a package of six.  They are spring colors.  I was there last week and saw that they have fall colors now.  I hope there is not going to be a problem with ciate because they are putting out something very similar to this look. They call it the velvet manicure and it costs $19.00.  Big difference I copied this from their website.

    Here are my pictures.

I really like this manicure one coat of polish sprinkle the flocking powder on and you are ready to to.  I read the reviews on Ciate's manicure but it did not sound too good.  Customers said it was a mess and it took long to dry.  I used one coat od China Glaze aquadelic and then put the powder on.   Easy peasy.  So, I haven't seen Ciate's version but this one is just fine for me.  What do you think?

Well, ciao for now.  time for beauty rest,
    Patty

    butter LOndon Trustifarian

I finally got this polish.  I ordered it from Nordstrom it was on back order and I had to wait while I saw it almost everywhere.  I love this color.  It is a holo and I like the name it reminds me of Bob Marley, you rastafarian.  I don't know if they did that on purpose but it is a cool name.  The application was smooth.  The first coat went on kind of sheer but then the second coat gave full coverage.  Overall this is a great polish.  Very well worth the $14,00 price tag.  The other one Dodgy Barnett is the blue version of Trustifarian.  It is a light blue holo.  I don't have it because I have something similar but if you like this one and like blue it would be worth it to get both. It is a little like China Glaze but I don't think it is a dupe because the China Glaze is more linear and this one is more spread out.

So, is this a must have for you or a pass?

    Jade Hypnose

I got this holo from Ninja Polish, it is a pretty holo very close to the color I used in my jelly sandwich.  It is a really pretty holo and for $7.50 it is priced reasonably.  The bottle is only 7 ml as compared to most OPI's and China Glazes which are 14 ml. and priced about the same.  The polish goes on so smoothly and dries fast.  There was no streaking and two coats was enough to produce this color. This polish I believe is from Peru or Argentina which means you have to order it.  I tried to order from from the foreign company but it was too confusing and shipping is outrageous.  Like I love Models Own but shipping from their website is around $20.00 even if you place a big order you still have to pay shipping.  So, I got on their mailing list and am waiting to be able to order when shipping is lower.  Ninja Polish  offers some Model's Own polish and should be restocked in around two weeks.  Just sign up for these newsletters so you can know when they are restocked.  I went to order more of these but they only had a white one and a pink one.  I already have two pink holos so I passed.

Holos, do you like them or do you think poeple make too big of a deal about them?

Deborah Lippman's Candy Shop VS. Urban Outfitters Lollipop

Ok, I have come up with a little different scenario to detemine if these are dupes.

This is Michael Buffer coming to you live from the Greenberg living room.  Scheduled for tonight's action is DL's Candy Shop VS UO Lollipop.  On the pointer and ring finger we have the Deborah Lippman and on the middle and pinkie we have the Urban Outfitters.  Scheduled for four rounds including color, glitter, staying power and price.  The judges tonight are a mother/daughter team of Patty and Goldie Greenberg.  The older Greenberg has 12 years experience in judging and the younger Greenberg a novice but has young outlook.
    Ring Ring
    Let's get ready to rumble.
First, we will hear from the older Greenberg color.  The color is pretty much the same the Lippman might be a little darker.  And Goldie, I agree with my Mom.
So,  as far as color goes it would seem that the Lippman is darker in color.  Round 1 Goes to Lippman.
Round 2 is glitter.  The Urban Outfitters glitter is much smaller with some large pieces of glitter.  Goldie what do you say.  I agree with my mom UO has smaller glitter and DL has larger glitter all the same size.
Round 3 is staying power.  Goldie what do you think," I will let my Mom answer she knows best".  I can vouch for DL lasting well over a week because I was wearing it when I went into the hospital and it did not chip or lose it's shine.
Round 4 Cost.  Goldie well first I want to say Mommy spends way too much money on nail polish.  Everyday she has to get a package or she gets sad and I know because that is when my Daddy takes me to go potty and we check the mail.  I know she paid $15.00 and she paid $4.00 for the Urban Outfitters.  She even broke a bottle and pretended that she didn't.  What does the older Greenberg say?  Well, I do spend money on polish but I could spend it on other things.  Like I quit smoking so I don't smoke anymore and that is the price of one bottle of nail polish.  So, that is how I justify it.  Goldie huffs.
So, after 4 rounds it seems like both of you prefer the Deborah Lippman and agree that they are not the same but if someone doesn't want to spend so much money on Lippman they can buy the Urban Outfitters and be ok.  Both Greenbergs agree.

That is just a little scenario I came up with.  The UO is pretty but personally, I like the Deborah Lippman.  They are not dupes as you will see in the pictures.

     Lippman
    Urban Outfitter

I know this is different way of writing.  I just wanted to be creative.  If you hate it let me know if you like it let me know.  I come up with ideas sometimes that are not the norm and sometimes with no feedback I just don't know if they are ok or pleae that was just totally stupid.  Won't hurt my feelings at all I write things like this for other things I do so it's not like I won't be able to do it if you don't like it.  So, leave a comment.

    Kelly Challenge-Dots

Ok, I am going to be honest. Dots are not my specialty. Almost anything freehand is not my specialty. I can't draw very well but I do my best. So, this is my best try on dots. I realize I need to practice more.

    Kimber's Challenge Day 5- Blue

For my favorite blue I chose Deborah Lippman's Ray of Light.  I love that it is navy almost back and it has red flakies in it.  It claims to be holographic but it really isn't.  I've worn it three times and I just don't see the holo in it.  I see the flakies but no holo.  I got this when it first came out at Nordstrom's and paid full price $18.00 but I just had to have it.  Even if it is not a holo it is still really pretty.

Do you htink this is a holo?   Or is it blue polish with red flakies?

You Put What on your Nail

I was at the craft store the other day just looking for inspiration. when I saw these really pretty feathers and thought hey those would look good on my nails.  So, I did a gradient with a-England's Holy Grail and OPI My Boyfriend Scales walls.  It was pretty easy to do.   I put a top coat and then put the feather on and another coat of top coat.  I think it is going to be a big trend this fall.  A small bunch of feathers is not more than $2.00.  You need to shape the feather to fit your finger if you want to cover it or you can just use it as an accent.  Here is what I came out with.

Do you ever have trouble opening your nail polish?  Stay away from the pliers.  Try this first.   It looks easy and less dangerous.  I personally have not tried but I will next time I can't open a bottle.  If anybody does try it let us know how it goes.

    Ludurana Monochrome Cyan Gold

This is going to be a short post just to show you this beautiful polish I got from Ninja Polish.  It is totally beautifull.  I already ordered some more.  I just love this particularr color so much.  If you haven’t checked out Ninja Polish.  You need to check out their website.  They have stamping plates.  The polishaholic famous FLOAM, Models Own, Hits and several other lines.  The shipping is cheap also.  I Rhonni and Stephanie have always answered my e-mail and I greatly appreciate that.  So, if you haven’t checked out their site.  Check it out.  I have four more posts for tonight but gotta go get a mammogram tomorrow.  Those things hurt early so I can’t stay up late and write this awesome post I was going to write.  Also,  I have over 100 followers.  I know part of it is for a giveaway but I just feel like it is another achievement that you all made possible.  I going to ask some other bloggers but I want to have another giveaway for reaching this mark or is it too soon.  I will find out more tomorrow.  If they agree, I am going to put another little giveaway together.  It might be just like this one small but fun.  So, thank you all so much for reading and following, you don’t know what it means to me.

    Kimber's Challenge Day 4 Green

I have quite a few greens, glitter greens, frosty greens, creme greens but when it comes to holo greens there is only one ultimate holo green.  I thought about a-England's Dragon and St. George but nothing compares to Nubar's Reclaim.  I remember the first time I saw it.  I was in love.  I had to find out what it was.  The thing is I saw it on You Tube and the only information I had was Nubar.  A good start but then I started looking for it through the beauty blogs and found the name then found it on ebay and bought it immediately.  I love it so much but this is only the third time I wear it.   I don't know why.  It is like a little jewel that you only wear for something special.  No stamping needed.  It is beautiful just the way it is.  And here it is Nubar Reclaim.  It costs about $7.50-$8.00 a bottle and you can buy it on Amazon or ebay.  I don'[t want to leave you in the suspense I was in.

Isn't she pretty?  It is not a dupe of a-England's Dragon the holo is more spread out on that one although beautiful in it's own righgt.  This was my choice for favorite green.  Which do you think is prettier a-England's Dragon or this one?
Be sure and checkout the other girls particpating in this.

    Autumn Leaves

Frank Sinatra sang about Autumn Leaves and right about now.  I sure wouldn't mind them.  Even though Spring is my favorite season.  I love autumn but in Texas it just depends on how long hurricane season lasts to determine whether we have autumn or not.  All I know is that the temp today was in the three digits and I stayed inside until 4:30 when I went for my normal Monday thing I do.  It was so hot Goldie didn't even want to go pee.  I hope she did not pee in the apartment.  She likes to pee in my stamping station.  It is 11:42 pm in Houston right now and she is in the middle of the bed.  She likes autumn too.  Thant is when she runs around and plays by herself of course because she does not like other dogs except her dumb baby daddy.  He is coming to visit this weekend again.  I'll make sure to get picture of the too.  They are so ugh.  So, I am ready for fall with these nails.  I used Did you 'ear about Van Gogh Me and William Tell me about it both from OPI and stamped using Konad Plate M78

So, are you ready for autumn or do you want a little more summer?  Either way it will be here soon we can't stop time.

    Brunch with Mom

Now, if your married you probably have one a mother-in-law and sometimes I think there are no in betweens you either hate her or love her and vise versa.  I loved my mother-in-law.  She was a feisty, fiery red head from the Bronx and she did not take shit from anyone. I think I brought out the soft side of her.  Being from a Hispanic family and a huge family we always hugged and kissed our aunts, uncles, and grandparents.  We told them we loved them.  When I entered the Greenberg family, those things were not there and I did not notice.  When I first reunited with my mother in law (if you remember I knew my husband and his family as a little girl because we were neighbors) I hugged her and gave her a little present I bought for her. I was always taught never to show up at some one's house empty handed.   She looked at me in shock and smiled.  She said,  "I don't remember you"  and I just told her it was a long time ago.  We went on to eat dinner and the next day shopping.  We went out that night and the next day we went to Wal-Mart.  She had been mad at my brother in law and he called for us to pick him up at the movies.  (His daughter told me he went to the movies to get some sleep)  So, he gets in the car and says hi to me and gives me a big hug.  That did not sit well with my mother in law.  My brother-in-law and I hug out in the same crowd after my husband left town.  So, we were talking about the old gang and what they were doing.  Dropped him off and as soon as he got off the car she says you see how he treats me he doesn't even talk to me.  I explained our relationship and she looked at me a little skeptical.  I was packing my bags getting ready to leave when my husband runs in the room and I heard her screaming.  I hope Patty breaks up with you, you finally find a nice Jewish girl who likes you but I hope she breaks up with you.   I said what happened.  He said she was mad because her son did not talk to her.  I made my way out again hugged her and thanked her for her hospitality.  She looked oddly at me. My husband and I ended up getting married and I would talk to her on the phone once a week.  Finally, I told her I loved her and she just didn'[t know what to say.  The next time we spoke I ended with an I love you and she said it back.  I noticed my husband never told her he loved her.  I told him I had done it and she reacted well.  We became very close.  I even let her teach me to knit.  My grandmother taught me how to croquet but not knit she started to but died.  I never tried again.  Until Mom came along.  Wee would go visit and spend hours in the yarn store and she would complain that she never saw her sons.  I talked to both of them and told them can't you take an hour on Sunday and take her some bagels.  All she wants is brunch with her sons.  They made excuses.   Then she got really ill and I stood up and took care of her in her last days.  She uttered her last words to me, and said she wanted to go home but she was scared that my husband was going to cry, I told her not to worry, go home and would take care of him forever.  She closed her eyes and never opened them.  I walked out and looked at my husband and his brother and said all she ever wanted was brunch with her sons.  I held back my tears and comforted them.  When they were getting ready to take her to the funeral home I so clearly remember her hands.  They were painted perfectly.  She always kept her hands painted a bright frosted red oval shaped.  She was a polish alcoholic.  She always would look at my nails with a scrutinizing look when they were green or blue she told me she most liked neutral colors on me because of my olive skin.  So, I would always try and please her by wearing something I knew she would approve of.  No stamping at that time.  So, this manicure is done for my beloved mother in law who I still miss but know she is in a better place.  Here's to you Mom you would like these especially for brunch.

(I did darken the pictures so you could see the stamping a little better)

I did what I am going to call a monochromatic stamping.  I used Illamasqua Faithful.  It dries a little matte but I went ahead and put a coat of Essence Special Effects Top coat, Then I stamped with China Glaze Swanky Silk using Konad Plate M63.  I really like this look and I am going to try it with some of the other polishes from the bohemian line.  Except for the purple these polishes stamp very well.
So what do you think of this monochromatic look.  Like it or make it go away?
