Owls and Lacquer Kittens and Teacups

Owls and Lacquer is the creation of Mara from Mara in Polishland. This particular polish is called kittens and Teacups. It is a white jelly with black and pink glitters it is so cute because you can wear it plain or with French Tips. By the that is a good way to make your manicure an extra day if you are not a stamper. Put a tip on your polish with another coat of top coat. I do that sometimes. You can but these at Mara in Polishland or Colores de Carol. Check it out. You can also follow her on twitter.

Peanut Butter and Glitter, Please

Ahh, yes, I took a break from blogger but not a break from painting my nails. Heaven forbid. So during my hiatus I was able to do some manicures I had not been able to do. Oh, I also got a lot of polish because I was kind of depressed and my husband felt so bad for me because he did catch me crying and I told him there are times I want you around and now here you are and I am working on my blog. I just want to spend time with you and my daughter. He said ok. So, today is sad because I miss my baby, Michael is back at work and my girlfriend found an apt., but I still have Goldie. She did pretty well for Hanukkah but in the end I think I was the big winner. I did get a lot of polish, a coach purse, coach sunglasses, a pair of shoes I wanted and a little clothing haul. But don't think that everything was not planned well in advance and not on sale. Coach had their 25% off sale the shoes were on sale plus because my roommate's mom worked at Dillard's we used her discount and got and extra 25% off. and the clothing haul. Coupons from Macy's buy $25.00 get $10.00 off. So, I use one upstairs and my husband uses the other one downstairs. He is just as bad as I am maybe worse. But anyway. I did this mani the day my daughter and I went down to American Apparel, where yes I bought 3 polishes in my defense though I gave my daughter about five of them. Indies and some OPI's, ash, hell, she could have taken anyone she wanted and it would have been ok with me except for OPI's Jasper Jade that is a VHTF. She can use it when she comes to visit. So, also if you read my blog I might have mentioned that one of my favorite things to eat is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. If you watch Breaking Bad. I make mine like Walt does. My husband and sister started laughing when they saw that, oh well. This mani is just a happy mani. I used a green finger paint polish on the bottom and I don't know what the name is because the label is off. Then I used Kb Shimmer's Clown Puke. Then a layer of Zoya's Frida and this is what I got.

Jelly sandwiches are easy and look so good.  There is no way anyone can mess this simple manicure up so if you haven’t tried them yet.  Get creative and try it and them have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

My Favorite Color to Work with Crumpet's Challenge Day 6

Your support keeps me going.

Day 4 Crumpet’s Challenge Pink

The only color that came to me when I thought about pink was this beautiful holo from Urban Outfitters that has been a hit on with so many bloggers.  I ran into Urban Outfitters and bought this pink one.  They only had a light green and silver and I had to go with pink.  Boy is it full of holo goodness.  My daughter saw it and was so impressed she asked me what kind of polish is this so did our temporary roommate.  So I thought I will use it for a day.  Wow, is it an eyecatcher.  I just wish they had other colors.  I went to the other Urban Outfitters in town and it appears that they only make it in  pink, silver and light green.  If anyone has seen a different color let me know because I would love another one but like in a purple or blue.  So, this is my entry for this challenge it think it is a great color and for $10.00 it is a little high so I would only buy one more.   I got my pay from Latina Bloggers last night and I spent it all already on indies last night.  So, I hope these go on sale so I can get more than just one more because think of the great water marble it would make.  So, make sure to check out the other Pink Ladies.

She’s a Brick House

Aww, the 70’s disco scene.  The Commodores sang Brickhouse while Lionel Ritchie was still with them.  That was a long time ago.  It was a great time and so is this polish from Deborah Lippmann. My husband just laughs because he never knows what is going to come out on my IPod.  It is a mish mash of all kinds of things.  Talking about mish mash that reminds me.  My husband and I have been on a blah when it comes to food but there is this deli in Houston if you live here it is called Kenny and Ziggy’s and they make this soup called mish mash that is just what I could go for tomorrow for lunch.  It is so good.  So, I kept looking at this polish and just passed it by but when I had to return something at Nordstrom I figured I had to make my way down to the polish section.  I looked for Brickhouse and I loved it.  It a crème colored rust but I have always loved this color.  It isn’t red and it isn’t really orange so I think that makes it a great neutral.  It is a Lippman so the formula was great.

So, do you have a song on you IPod that you are embarrassed to have or people would be surprised?

Zoya Lovelys Part II The Shimmers

The first one is Gei Gei a pink shimmer.  This is three coats.  The only problem I had was that you really have to wait for each coat to dry before you put the next one on.  It is a pretty color it does look a lot like OPI’s Pedal Faster Suzi.

gie gie 1

gei gei 3

The next one is Julie it is a lavender lilac.  This one is just two coats.  For some reason it went on easier than the other two and only required two coats.

The last one is Piaf.  This is my favorite of the shimmers.  I don’t have anything like this one it is a yellow shimmer.  Three coats. It is just very pretty.

Well, that is the whole collection.  To me it is a good collection.  All the colors are solid and can go with almost anything.  I think this was a good buy.

Polish Name From Cleopatra post

The name of the gold glitter polish from the cleopatra post from yesterday is Essence Make it Golden 67.

Day 2 Crumpet’s Challenge

Silver, hmm. I thought I had a lot more silver than I do. So, digging through my polish I find China Glaze Ten Men (From the Wizard of Oz Collection). Great! But it looks kind of of blah. So, I decide to do a gradient and use the special Ulta silver polish that came out in November. Looking good, remember several months ago when I reviewed Lynnderella Shape Shifter. I figured I dab some on. To my surprise I really liked it. I used very little. I used two coats of top coat and I was done. Here are the results.

I think I like Shape Shifter  I just hate that piece of bar glitter hanging off my middle finger.

Zoya Lovelys

I know I said I was not going to buy another full set of anything but these are too gorgeous not to have in my collection and I got them under budget so it was worth it.  This is Jacqueline, a beautiful extra pale yellow but it is described as a pale pink. It might be my skin tone that makes it look yellow but it is really nice and I can see myself wearing this often.

The next one is Neely a mint green which just reminded me of pistachio yogurt.  I hope my yogurt store puts that flavor out this summer.  although they have this wonderful flavor called Carmel salted pretzel.  It is so good.  It would taste great with pistachio.

The next one seems to be a favorite I heave heard a lot of people saying they want this one.   It is called Blu.  This one just reminds me of a newborn baby clothes.  It is so baby like I love it.  It seems to have a calming affect.

Those are the cremes.  I will have the shimmers tomorrow.

So, out of the three do you have a  favorite?  Remember Zoya's promotion that starts Monday.

Did You Like Deborah Lippman’s Cleopatra in New York? Now you can have it for the grand price …..

of around $3.00.  Yes, $3.00.  Maybe even $2.00.  The first night my daughter was here she asked me if I had a polish that was black with maybe gold glitter.  I said of course I do.  We got home and went straight to the polish room after a little banter and her browsing.  I pulled this out.

Cleo 1
A gold Essence nail polish that is gold glitter.
She put it on and I was like OMG.  I showed her the Lippman Cleopatra in New York.  I had to start laughing.  She did not really know what I was looking at until I swatched the Lippman.  She said, ‘Mom, take it back you are the queen of taking things back, you wear shoes and are able to take them back.”  I laughed and told her it was supposed to be a Bloomingdale’s exclusive.  She laughed and said you got jipped.  I almost cried and said I know.  Check this out.

DSCF6969

Can you tell the difference.  I can’t.  In order to achieve the look though layed down one layer of black then a thin layer of the glitter polish then a black layer and then another coat of glitter.  I swear I can’t tell the difference.
These are two black polishes I found in my box of polish I have not shelved yet.

Cleo 3
$0.99

  Cleo 5
$1.99

     Cleo 2

                                                                               $18.00

I don’t have the name of the gold glitter from Ulta and can’t get to it right now but I will post it tomorrow.  Really almost any gold glitter will do.  This one is perfect though because it has the hex glitter.
So, if you liked that polish and did not want to spend the money now you can have it.  If you try this send me pictures and we will put them on one post and send them to Ms. Lippman and tell her to please get more creative.  There are so many dupes for her polishes.

Patty

Day 3 Gold Crumpet’s Challenge

Gold.  I knew exactly which one I was going to use, of course Goldfinger from OPI’s Skyfall collection.  It is a beautiful polish but oh my gosh mess one up and it is a mess and that is what happened to me.  I just wanted some black tips on it with some black rhinestones.  It started to take so long,  I just said.  It is what it is.  I got an ok manicure that I would wear but I am not real proud of posting.  Just because now that I have used it I think it needs undies.  I’ll know for next time.  You’ve got to make some mistakes to make things better.  So, here are the best of 30 pictures.

gold 20

gold 16

Gold 4

That is enough agony.  I can’t take it.  I think it is cute but I definitely needed another gold polish.  Make sure you check out the other “Golden Girls” for today.  Tomorrow is pink.  So watch out for the Pink Ladies tomorrow.

Ciao for now,

Happy New Year

It feel like I have been gone forever but I did need that time to regroup and especially take time with my husband and daughter.  My husband is back at work taking it easy.  I had a wonderful visit with my daughter.  It is weird when you go out for dinner and your baby orders a beer.  Some parents might be upset that they didn't get to go out last night but really your children grow up so fast before you know it they are ordering alcohol at dinner and are of age to do so.  Got to keep the tears back.  We of course did our nails every night.  She is like Mom, she loves butter London.  She graduates next year and is coming to live in Houston for her Master's.  My sons are doing ok.  I pretty proud of the progress one of them is making but I have to stay out of it and let him stand on his own 30 year old feet.
The second part of this year has been amazingly calm year even though we all all had some type of hospitalization.  Goldie with kidney stones, me with my gallbladder and Michael with his pneumonia.
I received a lot of polish but my only new year's resolution is to save money for no particular reason just because.  My sinister plan is to buy a Paypal card and when the money is gone that is it.  I know in order to achieve this I need to slowly reach the target.  I think that is why a lot of people fail on their resolutions.  It takes thirty days to make a change.

The Crumpets challenge Day One Black and White Nails

I decided to start the year with a nail art challenge.  I miss doing nail art and like I said before I started the blog with intentions of doing nail art.  So our first challenge was a black and white mani.  I  have a special place in my heart for white mani's.  I think done right they are clean and sophisticated of clean and fun.  The mani I did is fun.  I did a different technique on each nail.  I used three colors in this mani.  China Glaze Elephant Walk, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and Wet and Wild Black.

The thumb is white with crackle polish.  The index is black with white polka dots.  The middle has a yin yang sign (so easy to do).  My ring finger I did a brush stroke nail that Kimber from Kimber's Lacquer Corner did in one of her Challenges. (http://www.kimberslacquerkorner.com/2012/11/31-day-challenge-v2-day-30-inspired-by.html).  Finally on the pinky I did a quilted nail.  It just took a little patience, but I loved doing it.

So this is going to be my entry for the challenge.  I truly had fun doing this manicure.  The challenge will last 31 days.  Tomorrow's challenge is silver and my mind is already going in all kinds of creative directions.  I will be posting my favorites, favorite mainstream polishes, favorite indies and posts.

Ciao till later,
Patty
