The Crumpets challenge Day One Black and White Nails

I decided to start the year with a nail art challenge.  I miss doing nail art and like I said before I started the blog with intentions of doing nail art.  So our first challenge was a black and white mani.  I  have a special place in my heart for white mani's.  I think done right they are clean and sophisticated of clean and fun.  The mani I did is fun.  I did a different technique on each nail.  I used three colors in this mani.  China Glaze Elephant Walk, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and Wet and Wild Black.

The thumb is white with crackle polish.  The index is black with white polka dots.  The middle has a yin yang sign (so easy to do).  My ring finger I did a brush stroke nail that Kimber from Kimber's Lacquer Corner did in one of her Challenges. (http://www.kimberslacquerkorner.com/2012/11/31-day-challenge-v2-day-30-inspired-by.html).  Finally on the pinky I did a quilted nail.  It just took a little patience, but I loved doing it.

So this is going to be my entry for the challenge.  I truly had fun doing this manicure.  The challenge will last 31 days.  Tomorrow's challenge is silver and my mind is already going in all kinds of creative directions.  I will be posting my favorites, favorite mainstream polishes, favorite indies and posts.

Ciao till later,
Patty

Scrambled brains

This is pretty much how my brain feels right now with everything going on.  I am pretty independent but to be caregiver to another person is not my strong suit.  Like I said before men are the most demanding patients and I have one of those right now.  I’ve been through it before and it tends to really scramble my brains.  So I did this manicure on Sunday when I came home for a short while.  It is a reminder also that it won’t always be like this and things will go back to normal.  But right now scrambled brains.

Black and White Stamping

Back is so often used as a staple color in most people’s wardrobe.  Black is a great color it is classy and forgiving to any body type.  I know most people probably wear black at least once to twice a week.  I know I do and I really like black.  White to me is a symbol of innocence and I love combining these two colors.  I wore this manicure for about three days and it was noticed by almost everyone I came in contact with someone asked me if they were the nail stickers and I said nope.  I almost hated taking this manicure off but I had to because I got my polish from Whimsical Monday.  I think if I haven’t been so tired lately I would have taken this off sooner but at the same time I did not want to because I do love the way the black and white look.  On my left hand two fingers are white and the other two black it seems to take the harshness away and evens the field out and of course the right hand is opposite.

So these were the nails for two whole days a real coop because I usually change everyday.  I just also wore gray one day and black on the other day?

How many times a week do you wear  black in a week?

Patty

Kimber's Challenge 25 Inspired by Fashion

The last two challenges really blew my mind so I looked for something that I would wear and I am not a bells and whistles type dresser.  I like to dress nice but comfort is key.  I often feel more comfortable in dresses than in pants and probably have more dresses than jeans.  I live in Texas and throw a sundress on with some flip flops is a popular dress style even today it was so hot I could have worn a sundress.  So, I found a really pretty dress that I would definitely wear anywhere even to temple but I would wear a little short sleeve sweater.  Call me old fashioned but I don't think shoulders or cleavage should be purposely shown in an place of worship.   So, here is my Dress and the nails I would wear with it.

I know it looks easy but it is cute.  It is something that I like and this is what I would wear.  I am going to blow you all away on the inspired by a piece of art.  I used Butter London Blagger, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Butter London Marrow and OPI A Grape Fit.

On a note I am a challenge behind but will post it tomorrow because I already know what I am doing.
Ciao for now,
Patty

You Put What on your Nail

I was at the craft store the other day just looking for inspiration. when I saw these really pretty feathers and thought hey those would look good on my nails.  So, I did a gradient with a-England's Holy Grail and OPI My Boyfriend Scales walls.  It was pretty easy to do.   I put a top coat and then put the feather on and another coat of top coat.  I think it is going to be a big trend this fall.  A small bunch of feathers is not more than $2.00.  You need to shape the feather to fit your finger if you want to cover it or you can just use it as an accent.  Here is what I came out with.

Do you ever have trouble opening your nail polish?  Stay away from the pliers.  Try this first.   It looks easy and less dangerous.  I personally have not tried but I will next time I can't open a bottle.  If anybody does try it let us know how it goes.
