Crumpet’s Challenge Day 31 Recreate Another Person’s Manicure

Wow, what a wild ride this has been and I cannot believe it is the 31st.  I am going to miss this but a break will be good too.  This is the second challenge I have been in and I finished.  I did not finish the first one.  What have I learned?  How to work HMTL’s.  That was the reason I did not finish the last one but now I feel good about them.  I am going to miss seeing what all the other girls are doing but I will follow their blogs.
So, today I recreated Posh Nail Art Challenge 6  Favorite color to work with.  I loved this manicure because it has a very ethereal look and love ethereal looks.  My favorite polish of 2012 was OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls so this was easy to decide.  Now just a matter of reproducing it.  I did not have the Cheeky plate that Posh used so I used my LeeLac plate A for the stamping.  I used Color Club Cherub just like Posh did.  So, here is what I came out with.

This manicure is so simple yet so elegant.  I will be wearing it in the near future.  Thanks to everyone in this challenge.  Like I said it was a wild ride and I am a bit sad that it is over but I am in Kimber’s A-Z challenge and we post every Wednesday.  Crumpet is starting a new challenge that will be slower than this one.  I won’t be in that one but look forward to the next one.  Ms. Crumpet thank you for creating such an exciting challenge and allowing me to take part in it and I look forward to more in the future.

Do Your Cuticles Hurt

About three weeks ago I was having a major cuticle issue.  They were just downright hurting.  No Lemony Flutter was helping.  So, I sat with the sore cuticles and when it was time for bed , I reached in to get my night-time meds and saw a tube of Neosporin with pain reliever.  I thought it isn't going to do any harm and rubbed it on within about 30 minutes the pain and redness had subsided I left it on all night and slept with my gloves on.  In the morning I was good to go.  On Monday, again I could feel some soreness, again Neosporin and voila problem solved.  Now, I don't want this to become a habit.  I view it more as a slow down sign and I am in no way encouraging anyone to get to that point but if it happens this appears to give some relief.  But also view it as a sign.  I know, I like to have back-up pictures but not at the expense of my health.  So, that is my little tip for today.  Hope you read this and understand where I am coming from.

Crumpet’s Challenge Day 30 Best Technique

When I stopped going to get my acrylics done, it was the start of the polish addiction.  I started to justify a bottle of polish a week in exchange for what I was spending at the nail salon that is how it all started.  Then my daughter found this nail technique water marbling.  We became obsessed.  Then found Konad and that was it.  I had turned into a nail junkie and I don’t know if there is any return.  So, water marbling was my first nail technique and I am very comfortable doing it but not crazy about doing the whole hand.  I like it as an accent so I left the pinky and thumb the base color.  I really think that one mistake people make in marbling is using the white as a base.  I just don’t think there is a need for that.  If you just use the lightest color as your marble then you are ok.  Just make sure the light color is very pigmented.  I used American Apparel polishes.  These polishes are very pigmented and perfect for marbling.  The colors I used are Cotton, The Valley, and Raccoon

So, there is my entry for Day 30.  I can’t believe we have come this far.  It has been a real wild ride.

Kimber’s Challenge Letter D

I chose for this week to use Duri’s Dragontini.  That is four in a row.  I am having SOOOOO much fun with this challenge.  Dragontini is part of Duri’s Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  If you have not heard of Duri polishes they are a fairly small company but their polishes are really nice they are smooth.   You can buy these polishes on Ninja Polish or on Amazon.  I would check out both because Amazon is pretty cheap.  Someone in Las Vegas sells them and they get to you really quickly.  So, I just had to stamp.  I used Cheeky plate 25 with Konad white polish.

Chic Checkerboard

This morning I was watching Fashion Police on E! one of my favorite shows and saw Kirsten Dunst wearing a checkerboard dress.  The panel basically liked it just did not like that you could see the inside lining and it was not dark.  I loved the pattern but thought it was beige and brown but then noticed it was black along the side.  I love the look and then thought how pretty that would look on my nails.  So, off to the polish room.  I used OPI’s Sand in My Suit as the base color then using my Leelac A plate for stamping. the colors I used for stamping were Klean Kolors Metallic Black and Metallic Coffee.  If you  don’t have the Leelac plate, the Cheeky set of 2012 the first set has a checkerboard pattern.  I really like this pattern and can’t wait to really wear it.

Crumpet's Challenge Day 29 Inspired by Another Blogger

The Polish Perfectionist did a manicure very similar to this.  When I saw it.  I loved it.  I changed the colors to the manicure but it is based on the one you will see if you click on The Polish Perfectionist.  I think it is very unique and looks really clean.

I used Deborah Lippman Let’s Hear It For the Boy on thumb and pinky.  On index finger I painted it with OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls and dotted with the same Deborah Lippman,  The middle finger is China Glaze Liquid Crystal and the ring finger has Blagger stamped with white using DRK-A plate.  I love this manicure and it is great because you can change it to different colors.  I just love it.
Ciao for now,

Girls,Girls, Girls

Today I received my Girls Collection Polishes from Deborah Lippman and I am pretty happy with them.  The only thing is that I don’t watch the show so, I really don’t know if the colors match the character.  I remember watching the first show but it didn’t hold my attention and I was still missing my usual Sex and the City girls.  So, I am going to watch some shows on demand and see if it is any better.

This is the packaging the polish come in which is pretty cute and good because I don’t have anymore shelf room for individual polish but for sets I do.  So, I do like that it came in a set.

This is Shoshanna.  A blue that tends to have a little lilac in it.  The formula was smooth.  This is three coats with a top coat of Seche Vite.  I am out of my favorite Nubar top coat.

The next one is Marnie.  A soft pink.  This one was a little streaky but was smooth with three coats.  The color reminds me a lot of Butter London Teddy Girl.  I will check to see how close they are.

The next one is Hannah a beautiful green leaning on some teal.  This one is my favorite of the collection.

The last one is Jessa.  A beautiful red.  It is more of a blue red than a purple red.  I wore it tonight and I know this is going to sound weird but it made my hands look like really young and clean I had been swatching most of the day so for my hands to look that good after what I had put them through, it was pretty good.  Another thing I noticed was that it made my hands look thinner and when a polish can do that I loved it.  The formula is really good on this one and I think it is my second favorite of the group.

So that is it.  I am not sure if this is still available.  I did not see it on the Nordstrom website.  I pre-ordered directly from the Deborah Lippman website.  I think it is still available on the Lippman website.  The only pitfall is that they are not sold individually.

Crumpet’s Challenge Mani Using your Favorite Color Day 29

My favorite color is purple.  So I decided to use purples to create this fishtail design.  I used Essie’s Nothing But Metal, Zoya Carly and Zoya’s Dannii.  I love the look of the fishtail design and feel pretty comfortable creating them.  So, I like this one and had fun doing it.

Crumpet’s Challenge My Own Creation Day 27

This is a simple manicure that I would wear for a day of shopping or just hanging around.  It does have some work in it in the fact that I did a gradient.  I love doing gradients and like I have said before mixing colors that are a little off beat, because let’s face it I am off beat.  Just a quick note I  saw a great movie today called Silver Lining Playbook with Bradley Cooper, Robert de Niro and Jennifer Lawrence and all I can say is that it was a great movie.  Life is best served up with a side of crazy.  So, this manicure is low key but I like it and it is what came to me when I did it.

I used China Glaze Desert Sun and Elephant Walk to create the gradient and then stamped with China Glaze Platinum using my LeeLac plate A.  I love that plate just because it has some really cool designs plus the images are big and I never have to restamp.  So, this is my offering for today.

Glad I Didn’t Miss This One

KB Shimmer’s Blackened Blue was a Black Friday Special.  I did not get on the net that day waiting for Cyber Monday.  On Cyber Monday I was shopping and saw this polish on someone’s website.  I shot Kristi an email and asked if this polish would be out again and she said it would probably be out sometime after the new year.  When I found out it was coming out I think I had to have been one of the first people to order it.  This polish is gorgeous.

Then I found this really cool ring on eBay and just had to have it.  Then I had to pair it with this polish.

kb1

This polish I  so smooth it isn’t funny considering all the glitter in it.  I used one coat of OPI’s Light my Sapphire, it is a really dark blue that looks black.  Then I used one light coat of the Black to Business,  it dried really quickly, then one more coat.  It kind of has the consistency of floam but a little lighter.  I am in love with this polish.  I might need to buy another bottle because it will be used often. My only wish is that I would have taken these pictures later in the day because the sun was so strong the day I took the pictures I took them in a shade and was not able to lighten them as much as I want. A mistake I will remember.  If you look at the first picture that is a true picture of the color of this polish.   If you like dark blues and not over the top bling you have to have this polish.  Believe me you will LOVE it.

Ciao bellas,
Patty
