May Favorites

I have some time so I am going to share my May favorites.  I did not have that much time to post as often as I usually do.  May was pretty chaotic.  But I do think I have some things I did like about May.  These are not in any particular order but just a few of my favorites.  I looked at my posts noticed that I did not feature much nail art but for June I have a lot of manicures featuring nail art I just have not posted so you will see more nail art in June.  These pictures are in no particular order.

 

 I think this was one of many people's favorites because it was such a beautiful color.  I have not worn it since I swatched it but I will be using it this week as I do have a busy week ahead.

This was one of my favorites because of the beautiful shine that came with it.  It was absolutely gorgeous in direct sunlight and I did wear this one for a couple of days.

Another one by Whimsical Ideas.  Like I said daisies are my favorite flowers and if you read the whole post and saw the shirt that I wore with this polish it was a no brainer.  They were meant for each other.

I am not always the glitter girl but this one was too cute.  I love Pretty Serious Polish and had to help Daphne celebrate her birthday which just happens to be in April just like mine. I wonder if she is an Aries also?

 

Before this post, I reviewed Revlon's Charma Chameleon and said I was disappointed with the lack of duochrome but had confidence that the next go around would be improved.  I said this is what I want and Hits Mari Moon collection never fails to put out some outrageous duochromes which I love.   So, as long as Mari Moon is around.  They have a loyal customer.

 

I know this one is a little ordinary but if you read the post it explains my obsession with rings and why I just love putting them in my manicures.  Sometimes I hit the nail on the head but others, well, I kind of deal with what I have.  But this post tells the true reason why and when my obsession started. 

 

So, I hope that you enjoyed these posts as much as I enjoyed writing them and of course wearing the polish that went with them.  If there was a post that you particularly liked let me know if there was one you hated let me know that too.  But for now, it is late and I must get my sleep as I am taking care of a child tomorrow and not a four legged one.  A 10 year old boy, my nephew, and I know I will need all my energy to answer all his questions because that is all he does is ask quesions.  His parents are scared to have the sex talk with him, I told them I would do it.  Maybe that is why he is coming over. Yikes.

Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head

A very long time ago there was only one way to get music in your car, through a radio on an AM channel.  I actually remember when FM radio came to be in the 70's.   It was really exciting to hear Led Zepellin coming out of the car radio.  Anyway there was this really kind of silly song called "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" by BJ Thomas.  They always seemed to play it when  it rained and as I swatched my nails with this polish this song was just in my head. 
Yes, I was so excited to score both the blue and pink Illamasqua Raindrops.  I really like these polishes.  I don't know which one I like better but they do seem to have a different formula and I have no idea why.  The pink one was a little thicker but I think the reason for this is that the blue one has more of a jelly feel and the pink one has more of a cream feel.  I did need three coats for the blue and only two for the pink.  That is the only difference I could tell.  Come to think of it the blue is a jelly it did take a little longer to dry in between coats but not to the point where I was ready to throw it against the wall and when it did dry it was a firm dry not one of those gooie ones. NOtice the small white flakes in the bottle shots.   I got these at Sephora.  I just made sure that when they sent me a notice that they were back in stock I bought them right away.  Right, now Sephora has a special offer that you pay $25.00 for a year worth of free shipping.  I decided I am going to go ahead and purchase.  Even though, my Sephora is about two miles from where I live they don't always have what I want in the store so ordering is just easier and less disappointing.  I do order on line because I hate going to a store and they don't have what I want and I have to go home and order anyway.  I will give you all the code and post it on facebook as soon as I go through my email and find it.  Now for the swatches.  Enjoy.

Which is your favorite.  I don't know.  I just know that the pink is very lady like and the blue makes me feel like a baby.  Either way.   I am glad I was able to purchase these.

KB Shimmer Summer 2013

I have to say that KB Shimmer is one of my favorite indies.  I remember when her line would put out new polish on Etsy you wanted to be left alone and be fast on the computer to make sure you got the polish you wanted.  I can’t even remember what was the name of my first bottle.  For that matter, I don’t even know how many bottles I have.  So, when a new line comes out it is very exciting for me.  So, today, I have Blinded by the Bright, it is definitely a neon yellow crelly with red, teal, gold, orange and blue glitters.   It is bright but not overpowering.  I want to say that I think this polish is cute and reminds me of a little chick.   I like to wear yellow on a shopping day.  Yellow is just a really a happy color. Because of my prior jobs I have noticed that some mental hospitals are painted yellow because it does help to stimulate the mind.  I used China Glaze Lemon Fizz and two coats of Blinded by the Bright with Julep Polymer top coat.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The next color I have to show you is What is Your Damage? is a white crelly with big black glitters, smaller black, pink, and mint green glitters.  I used OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls as undies and then two coats.  It was a little harder to get the glitters out of this polish but I just put the bottle upside down for about 15 minutes and went on my merry way.  I used two coats and then again used Julep polymer topcoat.  This polish is perfect for the new white polish summer trend.   After a long day at the beach, going out at night I always wear an all white outfit and this polish is perfect for that night out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The third and last one is Grayscale.  There are several variations of this polish.  This one consists of black and white glitters.  There is the Lynnderella polish but it does not have square glitters like this one, the other one is from China Glaze Whip it Up but this one is just small black and white glitters with bar glitters.  Grayscale definitely is the combination of everything.  It has square, hex, and smaller round white glitters.  The black glitters are small black glitters and bar glitters.  So, Grayscale definitely has  a larger variety of glitters than it’s counterparts.  So, now you’ve got this great glitter topper what color do you use.  Well, if you are me you, are going to use red, white and black.  I just love this color combination. Although, I did get a really pretty ring in black, white and green ring,  I am saving it for something else I have cooking in my head.  I used Butter London’s Macbeth because it is not an overpowering red and then white in OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  I chose these colors but you can use any colors with this polish.  Skittles, you can do an ombre,  or use all one color.  This polish is very versatile and those of you who read my blog know how much I love to recycle or have a polish that has many uses.

What the Heck, Bel-Argus by Chanel

It just seemed to me that since this was a limited edition polish they weren’t going to make anymore.  I should be getting Lilis this week sometime.  It is a small collection, it is Chanel and after all the chaos, I felt I deserved a little treat.  Now, I do have to say Bel-Argus is NO Azure.   It is a nice blue metallic that goes on like only Chanel polish does, like with most metallic.  The first coat was streaky but the second went on just fine.  There really isn’t a duo chrome but it does have an expensive look to it or maybe that is all in my mind.  It is a nice polish.  If you are a collector then buy it if not forget don’t waste your money but if you want one polish from this collection it is definitely Azure.  That is all I really have to say about this polish because it is pretty ordinary.

Kimber’s A-Z Challenge Letter U

Today’s letter is U so I am using Jade’s Uau!  which means WOW in Portugese and they are serious when they named this wow.  The holo in this polish is amazing.  It is like wearing melted copper on your fingers.  It just glows.  Pictures can never quit capture the beauty of this polish.  This is one of my favorite polishes.  It is still available at Ninja Polish but there is always a waiting list for this one it can also be found on Llarowe and at $8.00 it is a bargain.  So if you like this keep an eye out for it.

Crumpet’s Tri-Color Challenge Day 4

Today, I did  a cloudicure.  I think that is what they are calling it.  I am loving this manicure.  It is so easy and looks pretty and feminine.  I it also looks like a woman who wears this likes some color without going crazy but cares about fashion.  I am assuming most of you know how to create this look but if you don’t here is how you do it.  Just paint usually the lightest color then a second if needed.  Then you use your next color and paint as close to the top of the left side of the nail making sure to expose the grey.  Then another stripe a tad lower and then the third one lower also.  Repeat with the third color.  You can use more colors is you wish but it is a little harder to make sure you are getting all the colors in now maybe I could put another color in but for the last week I have had to paint my right hand because all the nails on my swatching had are tiny numbs so I have had to overcome that challenge but I see a lot of stuff on YouTube and wonder can you do that with your less dominant hand?  If you can’t then you can only paint someone else’s and the rest is for show.  If I can’t do it on my right hand why do it because then I can never wear that design so I always make sure I know I can do both hands.   So, give this one a try and you look like you did something really neat with your nails but only you really know how easy it was.
