Elixir Lacquer Some Kind of Connery

Today I have two of Elixir's best selling polishes at the time I bought them.  I just checked Overall Beauty where you can still find them.  I just did not get around to swatching and posting.  I kind of have a lot of polishes that I have not swatched and shown because when I started my blog I wanted to have a wide variety of polish but I kept buying new stuff and never got around to show some of the other stuff but I am going to maybe start swatching more than stamping but I am addicted to stamping.  I am just going to have to make time for both.  Both these polishes are pretty much like most glitter, they work best with the tap and roll motion and I am definitely going to make sure I always put panties on my glitters you get so much more out of them.  Just one light coat.

OK, there is this new thing going around the web about using all purpose glue as a base when you use glitters and when you want to take them off you just peel them off.  I haven't tried it but I saw it on youtube from soguesswhat11 who says she got it from a blog post from wacky laki.  Regardless of where it came from you NEED to watch this video.  OMG, I am going to wear glitter polish more.  She put the glue in an empty bottle of Seche Vite, (like we don't have a couple of bottles laying around).  The she painted the glue on her nail came back the next day and with an orange stick she just lifted the side and it came off whole.  I am trying that.  I am going to try it tonight and let you know tomorrow.

Back to the polish, sorry had a freak out moment when I saw that video.  This is Some kind of Connery a dark teal glitter,  I took the pictures outside like I usually do and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

The next one I have is With A K.  This is a beautiful fuchsia glitter.

Isn't she pretty.  I don't know why but I refer to like browns, blues and greens in the masculine and pinks, reds and ivory's in the feminine must be the Spanish in me.  I have a few more from Elixir so look for them in the near future.

Riders on the storm

One more post for tonight.  I love the Doors music.  One of the heights of my visit to Los Angles was going to the Whiskey A Go Go.  His pictures still adorn the outside of the famous night club.  I could almost feel his presence there.   Can you imagine being there when Jim Morrison was just going off on his musical tangent?  I must have been like magic.  No wonder women loved him.  Taken way too soon.  Jim we love you.  Here is my ode to the song that has been around since 1971 and still popular after 40 years later it is still played daily on the radio at least the station I listen to.  It was art.

I got this look by painting my nails with OPI I Vant to be a Texan.  Then used my new plate from Llarowe it is the big plate-B.   Got some white, grey and black Konad stamping paint and randomly painted parts of the image scraped and stamped.  This is what came out.  I had originally done it in green but it just hit me that this reminded me of the song Riders on the Storm.  That is how I came up with this design.

The Best Smelling Nail Polish

This is the best smelling nail polish.  Why?  Because it is scented.  I’ve tried others but the smell just seems to be really strong and then wear off or just has a cheap smell.  This is Tuff Scent.  It is sold online only in a large variety of scents.  They are $10.00 a bottle with free shipping.  Who could ask for more?  The formula is smooth but I did notice in my pictures there seems to be something on my middle finger but I looked and there was nothing there.  I really like this polish it dries rather rapidly and I love that just because even though I am patient with everything sometimes waiting for polish to dry.  Go figure.  This polish can be bought at tuffscent.com.  Come to think about it, I think I want another bottle or two. I have two others one glitter I think it sea breeze scent and one that smells like gardenia’s.  I absolutely love the smell of gardenia’s.  But I did buy four butter London’s today on sale.  Maybe I will order them tomorrow.  Like it makes a difference.  I am an addict.  We can’t control ourselves sometimes.  I am ordering.

Kimber's Lacquer Challenge butter London's Shag

My favorite metallic in my arsenal right now is butter London's Shag.  The color is rusty brown.  I would not put anything on it and that is a lot for me to say because I always seem to want to stamp or put flakies or do something but not with this one.  It is gorgeous just the way it is and if you don't have it and have an Ulta nearby head over there because they are having a BOGO sale on butter London today only.  I was going over there but Essie from Iheart Pretty Polish said she ordered hers so I did the same and if you don't have an Ulta nearby you can do the same.  Back to Shag, I even like the name.  So, I love this polish.  The formula is great and the dry time is fast also.

White Wedding by pOlish pOlish

I bought this as soon as I saw it on pre-order.  I knew it would just be beautiful and it was but oy, four coats.  I don’t like doing that I should have put a coat of just plain white polish.  Also, when you use four coats of polish, clean up is a real you know what.  In this case it was.  I can’t wait to wear it again but I am definitely going to use a coat of white just so I don’t have to use so much of this beautiful polish.   In certain lights you can see the shimmer of pink and blue.

You can see a bit of the blue and pink shimmer.  How do you like the different hand poses?  yes or make them go away?

Buyer Beware!

I am writing this as a possible warning.  I can’t, well I kind of can explain what happened.  I bought the beautiful bottle of Scrangie from Rescue Beauty Lounge.  The polish is not cheap and the shipping is not cheap either total cost was around $26.00.  I loved this polish.  I swatched it and was waiting to start my blog and premiere one day.  I only have one Rescue Beauty Lounge polish and I do admit I forgot about it.  When I started the polish room I found it and said today I am going to wear this and take pictures to post it on my blog.  When I put it on it did not seem the same color.  I looked it up on the internet and something looked wrong.  Well something was wrong

The left is what was in the bottle and the right swatch is the original color.

What happened?  Have you ever owned a strand of pearls?  Ok, when I went and bought my first set of pearls.  I did my research.  I do know a lot about precious gems because I have had quite a few and consider any purchase of jewelry an investment but only looked up how to pick good pearls.  Did you know that pearls that are not perfectly round are less valuable than those that are not perfectly round?  I did when I went and picked my pearls.  I also bought the pearls from a man who knew everything about precious gems.  He brought out 4 strands and I picked the ones I wanted.  He smiled and said you’ve done your research this is the exact strand I would pick.  He said so you know that you cannot leave these in a dark place.  I did not know that.  He said yes keep them in a jewelry box but make sure that you have preferably beige or light pink interior.  Mine had beige and I asked him why.  He said that over time the pearls pick up the color of what they are place in.  If they are placed in a black interior you will get gray pearls which are pretty but I wanted the classic white strand of pearls.  So, I think that is what happened to this polish.

DSCF1292DSCF1293

Note that the box is dark inside.  I am square what happened to the polish is the same thing that would happen to pearls if I left them in.  Have you noticed that like Deborah Lippmann's polish come in a clear box.  Chanel boxes are black on the outside but white inside.  Nars has a black box with black interior.  Illamasqua black box white interior.  Zoya if it comes in a box comes in a black box with a regular cardboard color interior or clear box.  I am just saying this because to be safe I took all my Nars out of the box Illamasqua’s are still in their boxes.  I will be sending these pictures to Rescue Beauty Lounge,  they can’t even replace Scrangie but Scrangie herself said there is a Sephora dupe which I will probably settle for.   So, do what you do.  I am not saying take all nail polishes with dark interiors out of the box just saying be careful and remember tomorrow is the Ulta BOGO Butter London Sale.

Gold stamping

I was so happy when I found this polish I had not been able to find a gold stamping plate but I was watching soguesswhat11's YouTube channel because she said she found a gold stamping polish. I was excited. I don't know other people never have any problem stamping with regular polish. I CAN'T DO IT. My stamping is okay but I need the right polish. So, I was excited to post this then I saw someone post something very similar. So, I wasn't going to post it but now I say what the hell, post it at least so you can spread the news about the stamping polish. So, if you already saw this sorry but look at how pigmented it is. It is maybelline's new colors in brash gold on Orly's it's alive
, which is a really pretty brown with gold sprinkles. So, like I said just look at the pigmentation.

Goldie wanted to say hi.  She is such a good dog.  I just love here do death.  We have made some real progress on the polish room.  Still need more shelves but she loves it in there.  I think if she could actually pass me the polish to put on the shelves she would.

Kimber’s Challenge - Ludurana-Violet Blue

I got this polish from Ninja Polish.  I love this brand and they have a big variety of colors Magenta/Gold that is wild.  I am probably going to order more.  At $7.50 a bottle it is a bargain, the only thing is that the bottle is only 7ml.  but two coats is good.  I could not really pick up the duochrome but you can see the the color alone is different.

The Votes Are in

I asked if you'd rather have indie or a Latin based giveaway. And the winner was Latin and I am really happy about that.  I will order the polish tonight and lot you know which ones they are.  I have quite a few and am very happy with them.  I'll probably order four and some other goodies.  You will be able to see the pictures after I place the order.  I get nothing for free.
Ciao for now Bella's,

OPI Suedes

With summer coming to an end it is time to get sweaters and boots out of our closets make sure they are ready for the cold weather. It is also time to go and shake up those winter nail polishes so when we need them they are ready to go. I did that last night because seriously, I can't wait for the weather to cool down. It hit 107 here and that just is not good for me and my one lung. I get stuck inside all day so, yeah, I am looking forward to fall but even in fall it is in the 80's but it sure beats 107. So, these suede's came out a couple of years ago and no one really bought them. I did not until this year when I could see what you can to with them. I am dying for Lincoln Park After Dark and I got some surprise money for ad campaign I did so I will probably treat to myself to it. Not that I haven't already this week buying two Deborah Lippmann's but not at full price so that makes me feel better. I just have a problem paying full price for things. If you shop you will find what you want at a price that you really want. I have walked away from every car I have bought because the stupid car dealer would not sell me the car at the price I wanted, believe me they called back the next day and I had my car. Don't ever be scared to walk from something that you know is too expensive. You will find it at the price you want if you are patient. I guess that is some advice for the day.

This is OPI's Suzi Skis the Pyrenees, I is a charcoal gray.  Now we see all kinds of things being done with suede's, stampings, painting with clear polish to create different textures.  When these came out there wasn't a lot of nail art and think that is why they were passed by.

Next is We'll Always Have Paris.  I is a beautiful wine color and looks really pretty when stamped or just worn by itself.  Last year I stamped it with purple and it looked really pretty.  The great thing about these polishes is that they dry really fast.  I just feel a little weird about not wearing a top coat but if it bothers me too much I will put a matte coat just for protection.  You don't need acetone to take this off it slides off with a little polish remover.

The last is OPI ink.  It is a grayish blue.  Very pretty.  They called it Lincoln Park after Dark so I was a little upset when I got it but then fell in love with the color.  The color does not disappoint.

See, this is really pretty color.  I did not decorate them so that you could see how pretty just the way they are.

What do you think of suede's?  Do you have any?

Ciao,
Patty
