Gold stamping

I was so happy when I found this polish I had not been able to find a gold stamping plate but I was watching soguesswhat11's YouTube channel because she said she found a gold stamping polish. I was excited. I don't know other people never have any problem stamping with regular polish. I CAN'T DO IT. My stamping is okay but I need the right polish. So, I was excited to post this then I saw someone post something very similar. So, I wasn't going to post it but now I say what the hell, post it at least so you can spread the news about the stamping polish. So, if you already saw this sorry but look at how pigmented it is. It is maybelline's new colors in brash gold on Orly's it's alive
, which is a really pretty brown with gold sprinkles. So, like I said just look at the pigmentation.

Goldie wanted to say hi.  She is such a good dog.  I just love here do death.  We have made some real progress on the polish room.  Still need more shelves but she loves it in there.  I think if she could actually pass me the polish to put on the shelves she would.

Kimber’s Challenge - Ludurana-Violet Blue

I got this polish from Ninja Polish.  I love this brand and they have a big variety of colors Magenta/Gold that is wild.  I am probably going to order more.  At $7.50 a bottle it is a bargain, the only thing is that the bottle is only 7ml.  but two coats is good.  I could not really pick up the duochrome but you can see the the color alone is different.

What do you think of this color and do you think the pricing is fair.

The Votes Are in

I asked if you'd rather have indie or a Latin based giveaway. And the winner was Latin and I am really happy about that.  I will order the polish tonight and lot you know which ones they are.  I have quite a few and am very happy with them.  I'll probably order four and some other goodies.  You will be able to see the pictures after I place the order.  I get nothing for free.
Ciao for now Bella's,

OPI Suedes

With summer coming to an end it is time to get sweaters and boots out of our closets make sure they are ready for the cold weather. It is also time to go and shake up those winter nail polishes so when we need them they are ready to go. I did that last night because seriously, I can't wait for the weather to cool down. It hit 107 here and that just is not good for me and my one lung. I get stuck inside all day so, yeah, I am looking forward to fall but even in fall it is in the 80's but it sure beats 107. So, these suede's came out a couple of years ago and no one really bought them. I did not until this year when I could see what you can to with them. I am dying for Lincoln Park After Dark and I got some surprise money for ad campaign I did so I will probably treat to myself to it. Not that I haven't already this week buying two Deborah Lippmann's but not at full price so that makes me feel better. I just have a problem paying full price for things. If you shop you will find what you want at a price that you really want. I have walked away from every car I have bought because the stupid car dealer would not sell me the car at the price I wanted, believe me they called back the next day and I had my car. Don't ever be scared to walk from something that you know is too expensive. You will find it at the price you want if you are patient. I guess that is some advice for the day.

This is OPI's Suzi Skis the Pyrenees, I is a charcoal gray.  Now we see all kinds of things being done with suede's, stampings, painting with clear polish to create different textures.  When these came out there wasn't a lot of nail art and think that is why they were passed by.

Next is We'll Always Have Paris.  I is a beautiful wine color and looks really pretty when stamped or just worn by itself.  Last year I stamped it with purple and it looked really pretty.  The great thing about these polishes is that they dry really fast.  I just feel a little weird about not wearing a top coat but if it bothers me too much I will put a matte coat just for protection.  You don't need acetone to take this off it slides off with a little polish remover.

The last is OPI ink.  It is a grayish blue.  Very pretty.  They called it Lincoln Park after Dark so I was a little upset when I got it but then fell in love with the color.  The color does not disappoint.

See, this is really pretty color.  I did not decorate them so that you could see how pretty just the way they are.

What do you think of suede's?  Do you have any?

Patty

My Zoya BOGO Haul

I was really excited when Zoya did their bogo sale and ended up getting six polishes.  I happy with all of them except maybe one.  But I love they way they arrived quickly and without any hassle.  So, here were my pics from the BOGO sale.

The first one is called Story and it is a light frosty blue.  It is really reminds me of OPI Un-forgretable.

Next, I have Daul which I think is my favorite because of the duochrome in it.  it is a little pink/ purple with a gold duochrome.

The third one is Elisa.  It is a red with some frost in it and a really pretty red that you can wear for anything.

The fourth is Fei Fei, it is kind of weird.  I don't know if it is green or silver, yet it is still pretty.

The next is a really pretty purple called Suvi.  It has a slight frost and is a two coater

The sixth one is Frida.  It is a jelly and takes a long time to dry.  I'll be making some jelly sandwiches with this one.

Overall, these are some great polishes they go on well and dry pretty fast except for the jelly.  I am happy with my selections and can't wait to use them.

Which is your favorite from the new Zoya line?

My giveaway

I want to have a small giveaway to commemorate Mexican independence day and 100 followers but I really need your help.  I really wanted to do a Latin theme because really my great grandparents were from Spain so they were on the losing end but I have very fond tequila memories of Mexico and several friends from there but the Brazilian and Peruvian nail polishes are mainly duochromes but everyone wants indies.  It really is a 100 follower giveaway, I just threw the Latin thing in there.  Please let me know which you prefer I'll take a count and by Friday make the decision and let you all know which way it will be and what will be in the giveaway.
Pass this on if you want.  I will put it in a post on the side bar.  I'll even put up a poll.
Ciao,
Patty

Saturday Nails

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  I had a great one.  My son and daughter came to visit.  I had not seen my daughter in 22 years and not because I am her mother I have to say she looked absolutely beautiful.  Her hair was long and she has a very thin petite frame just like me.  We spent all day together Saturday and I was just so happy.  She told me she was looking at some pictures and wondered how she was in them and finally realized they were pictures of me when I was young.  We do look alike and have very much the same taste in fashion, music and handsome men.  I just loved having her here.  She really freaked out when she saw the polish room because it used to be her room and she still claims it as hers and it is hers.  She told me that she would not have a problem keeping the room just like it is if she ever decided to come back to Houston to go to graduate school.  She graduates next year and I am so proud of her.  I always told her, it is easy for a man to earn a decent living without much schooling but as women we need that piece of paper no matter what.  She is going to be a teacher and loves it.  I have a little bit of a hard time relating because even though I did teach.  I taught special education in High School and did not have a good experience except for one year.  I was really used to the excitement of working at Child Protective Services but you know, I would not want her to work there.  She went out with me on some neglect cases and could not believe the way some children lived I think it made her appreciate what she had.  I did it with all the kids.  My middle son actually was very bothered by it and just wanted to know why someone would not do anything for those people.  I did end up helping the family get housing, food stamps and some clothes and took my son over to see them afterward and he said that was really nice that you do that mom.  I doubt he remembers.  I don’t want to remember a lot of things I saw.  I would rather remember my time with my children and look forward to being a grandmother again.

Friday night I showed my daughter polishes.  They don’t sell a big variety of nail polishes in our hometown but they do have OPI but she loved the Butter London and the Deborah Lippmann's.  I gave her one and ordered her one.  She took pictures of her nails and will be sending those pictures so you can she what she came up with they were both very pretty.  She says she likes glitter because she wants no sparkle on her hands right now.  That meant no boyfriend, so forget about setting me up with someone, Mom.  I told her I wasn’t even thinking that and liked what she was thinking.  So, I will have a guest model this week.  I know Lizloza are mother and daughter but I don’t know if they live in the same town but they do their blog together and I might have my daughter do some posts also.

For my mani, I did a jelly sandwich that looks a lot like the new green polish from KB Shimmer which I almost bought.  What I used was American Apparel Sheer in Zuma Beach and Clown Puke from KB Shimmer.   I am loving American Apparel Polish and with my daughter around we ended up talking about nail designs and I can’t wait to execute them.  So, I think I have got some really good stuff coming plus we went to Sally’s and the craft store and oh my came up with some great ideas.  So, keep checking in.  Tuesday is like usually my “work day” where I do several manis and photograph and crop but I can’t believe this I woke up at 1:30 today.  So, even though I have like four post I’d love to do tonight.  I got to get back on my sleep schedule and get to sleep.  So, here is my Saturday Mani.  Hope you like it.

My Mama Told Me…..

After my gallbladder surgery, my Mom stayed with me a couple of days.  When I got home and took a shower and fixed my hair.  She was like what the hell happened your hair.  Since my 20’s I have had LONG hair like past the middle of my back and even though it was not really that thick but it was straight and always looked really healthy.  I never had any problems.  Now, that I am almost 50 of course I have some gray, not much but still color because it shows up around the front of my face.  In December 2011 I decided to cut my hair short.  I had never cut it because my husbands were always like, “NO DON”T CUT YOUR HAIR” they were as possessive of my hair as that other part of the body that only they should touch.  Any way, I cut it,  My husband just looked and I swear I thought he was going to cry.  So, with shorter hair it was so freeing.   I loved it.  Especially when I took a shower my hair dries fast and I would just run the straightening iron through it and I was read to go.  Then I had the feather tragedy.  My mom was kind and said that she had started using this shampoo that actually thickens your hair.  I just kind of rolled my eyes, she said you should try it.  Female baldness runs in my father’s family.  She said my aunt turned her on to it and she got back a lot of her hair.  She left the bottle here and over the weekend my daughter and son were here and my daughter asked me about that shampoo.  She said her hair felt really full.  She is sporting long hair like I did.   At night when I took a shower I raced to the other bathroom to get the shampoo.  I used it and the next day it did feel a little fuller I used again the other night and it felt about the same..  I could tell something was going on.  I bought the conditioner and when I put it on it was really tingling and I really knew.   I am not sure if I am going to let my hair grow or leave it short I’ll probably just keep it at a midpoint but the name of this product is Folicure.  I got it at Sally’s and it was around $7.00 a bottle.  I am not saying it worked overnight because I had been using other products and massaging my scalp a lot, I just feel that this is working faster than anything else. So, if you have thinning hair or just want thicker hair try this it might work for you.  And let me know if you use it and it works.

Patty

Kimber's 31 Day Challenge Black and White

When I saw black and white I knew exactly what I was going to do espcieally since I had just gotten my new plate from Llarowe it is the B plate.  I really like it and might get the A plate too.  So what I did was painted two nails white my ring and middle finger and my thumb, index and pinky are black.  I stamped the white ones with black and the black ones with white.  I like the way they came out and it was an easy manicure.

Target People Festival

There is a Party going on in San Antonio, Tx this weekend, hosted by Target and People Magazine.  It is called Mamiverse and they have quite a line of great musical guest with the internally famous LUIS MIGUEL.  I tell you San Antonio is not too far and if I can snag some tickets.  I might go.  Why because I love this festival and LUIS MIGUEL is going to be there.

I have been selected by Latina Bloggers to promote  the yearly Festival in association with Target and People Magazine that they have in San Antonio, TX.  I went to the festival around 13 years ago and it was so  much fun.  So, any bloggers in San Antonio take advantage of the three day extravaganza.  There will be prizes and music and the headliner is non other than LUIS MIGUEL!  The Latin crooner who has women swooning over him.  Including me.   I remember when I did go to the festival Selena was supposed to sing and she did but she got there late and we missed her that year she won her first Grammy but later as we all know was murdered outside a hotel in Corpus Christi.

It was then I started to listen to the music of Luis Miguel.  His triple CD Romances is like no other for a romantic night.  I don't think I have ever gone to a wedding where they do not play "Solamente Una Vez" (only once).  It is like a tradition because the song tells the story of getting married once and only once.  We only give our hearts in marriage once.   The lyrics to his songs are so passionate sometimes they give me chills.  I have to listen to his music when I drive because it keeps me so calm otherwise it is Road Rage for me.  He has put out 21 CD's over his lucrative career.  The concert will take place in the Alamodome in San Antonio, he will be making two concert appearances in Las Vegas on September 13 and 14, 2012 at Caesar's Palace for all you fans in the west.  His career spans 30 years.  As I sit here and write this I listen to his music.  I can't stop listening sometimes.

He will also be making two appearances in California during the month of September.

There will be other events going on for example giving makeovers to those who want them.  There will also be a lot of good food and I say good because it is all food I can eat.  Just a sneak peak.

So here is a rundown on the three day event:

  • ‘Glamazon’ Twitter Party on Thursday 8/30 at 9-10pm EST on what it means to be beautiful (both inside and out) as women, Latinas, and moms
  • Virtual Make-Over ‘Salon’ on Saturday 9/1 at 3-4pm EST will mirror a ‘Beauty Day’ with your bestie, on-site make-up tips, techniques, etc.
  • El Mundo Baila Twitter Party on Sunday 9/1 at 3-4pm EST will focus on the Latin music featured at Festival, including favorite songs, pictures of key moments in artists lives, etc.

  • And of course don't miss LUIS MIGUEL at the Alamodome on September 1, 2012.

    Ciao for now bellas,
    Patty
