My Favorite Things Challenge - Day 3 Animal Prints

Sometimes I get my inspiration from the weirdest places. This particular manicure was inspired by a pair of VS panties I have. I have three sisters who all wore the same size in panties and we all wore white finally my middle sister accused me and my baby sister of taking all her underwear, at that point we swore we would get different colored underwear and it has been that way ever since. It is a crazy story but if you come from a family of all girls you might sympathize with this story. So, here is a pattern from a pair of panties I have.

I used an American Apparel nail polish, I think it is called cream.  Then I stamped using my DRK-A plate and dotted with OPI's Shanghai Shimmer.
Hope you like.  If you have any funny sister stories you want to share leave in comment section

Lynderella

I found out today from Kelly at Ooh la la polish that you can buy lynnderella polish at lynnderella's site on eBay for twenty dollars.  I might have been wrong in saying $45.00 was the going rate.  I am going to look for it and if I find it I will have to say sorry for leading you to believe that there may be some price gouging.

Butterfly Kisses from Whimsical Polish by Pam

This next polish is a polish that you really don’t see in the collection but I had been looking for something in red and this fit the bill to a tee.  I used a panty coat of OPI’s Text Me and then a coat of  the Butterfly Kisses.
So, here is the beautiful red butterfly kisses.

I LOVE VEGAS VEGAS BOMB

Ok, I got to be honest.  I love Vegas.  If I could live there I would.  I have really good friend who does and she loves it.  She is a professional poker player.  I should have figured that since when we were young she usually beat me at cards.  I thought luck and so did she.  We had the chance to reunite after 30 years last year during our vacation.  It was really great and she loves living in Vegas and has offered an open door for whenever I want to go.  Going to take her up on that offer soon.  I am not a big gambler.  I like the slots, but I love the shows and the shopping and the glitz and if you’re going out on the town in Vegas this polish is the polish to wear.  come to think of it it might be the perfect polish to wear if you play blackjack because it will surely draw attention to you hands and might make the players forget about what is going on in the game.  So, check this one out.  I love it.  I got it from one of my favorite indies,Kb Shimmer.

This polish is loaded with glitter this is two coats with a coat of seche vite. I am not sure but this might be on it’s last leg so if you really like it you might ask Christy if she has any extra.  It won’t hurt to ask.
So, what do you think of this one too much or yes, I love the glitter.  Leave a comment.

Honey Bee from Nailventerous

Here is a polish I had been wanting for a long time but like I said before with indies if it is there and you want it get it because you don’t know when it will show up again.  I really like the colors in this probably because I have always been intrigued by the honey bee life cycle which we studies in at least two of my bio classes just because their organizational skills.  this one is has the same texture as FLOAM  it is sandy but dries fast.  A coat of seche vite and you are ready to go this of course can be purchased at Ninja Polish.  if it says it is our of stock sign up on the website and they will email you when it is back in stock you just got to be fast, believe me, I probably got about six email before I got this one but I am not a person that is constantly on my email or has a phone with email otherwise I am sure I would have gotten it sooner and if you sign up for their newsletter they will let you know of sales and promotions.  if you are like me looking to be the first to get something and get a good deal sign up at all the indie websites and connect to their Facebook pages so you can know what is going on otherwise, it will just be luck of the draw for you.  I think bloggers are more aggressive but if you are not a blogger that does not mean that you can’t be just as aggressive.  We are both customers and hold no priority over non bloggers.  so enjoy the pics and leave a comment if you like it or leave it.

Update

Just wanted to let y'all know that Pam has come up with six new polishes and they are gorgeous.  Going to order 2 right now.  Got two more shelves in the polish room.  Goldie and I will be busy tomorrow.  She will probably sleep for the whole thing.  Goldie is fast asleep right now and it is funny because she snores so loud.  Wish I could take a picture but that would wake her.  Got 3 posts in draft need to publish tonight.
Gotta go do my normal Monday thing wish Goldie could come since I am feeling really lonely.  You know how all those famous people are getting notes from their doctor that their dogs are therapeutic companions.  I want one right about now. So, that's it.  Just a small update.
Ciao, Patty

New Bloggers

Last week, I was nominated for a Liebster Award.  I in turn need to nominate 12 fairly new bloggers preferably someone who has had a blog for four months but less than 200 followers.  There are no tag backs and some of the people I wanted to nominated have already been nominated.  So, if you fit this criteria.  At least four months blogging and less than 200 followers.  Please e-mail me at plgreen16@yahoo.com  I take this award seriously and want to nominate people who are really working hard on their blog but it is hard to just go through blogrolls only to find a person has over 200 followers.  Blogging is hard.  I take it seriously.  So, if you can submit your blog..   I'll look at it and get the opinion of maybe two or three other bloggers to decide who to nominate.
Thanks,
Patty

Braided Nails

I saw Jen from Polish and Pearls her do these braided nails I knew I had to try it. The thing is she makes it looks easy and my first attempts were a mess but then I got the idea that I was braiding my hair and everything went ok.    The best tip I can give you to getting this look is to use polish that is usually ok with one coat.  I tried a bunch of different ones and ended up using Essie Good as Gold, Essie, Smooth Sailing and Duri, Lazy Days.  You can use any colors you want.  Just stick to three and try to do only 2 or three nails at a time.  Maybe you can do more. I couldn't.  I had problems when I tried to do the whole hand but when I did two and three, it worked better for me.  What do you think?  This was about my fifth try and I still think I can do better so look for some better ones in the future with different colors.  Personally, I love the look.  What do you think?  Like it or make it go away

Goodbye, Goodbye, Good Night

This is a Lynnderella.  That is why I gave this post this title.  I don't know if I will ever own another Lynderella.  I am happy I got the four I did.   I paid $60.00 for four bottles.  I wouldn't have minded paying up to $20.00 a bottle but I just went on ebay because I won a HTF for $10.00 with free shipping.  So, the only place you can buy Lynderellas is on ebay and they just so happened to have the polish I am going to show you right now.  It is beautiful polish but if this is how much you have to pay I am sorry Ms. Lynnderella this is true greed.
Now, let me tell you about the polish itself.  I used Orly bonder as my base coat and used three coats of the polish the next day the whole nail polish on my thumb just fell off.   I redid it and went on my way.  When I got home I noticed that the polish on my index finger had fallen off.  It did not peel off. It came off as if it was a false nail completely in tact.  I should have taken a photo but I was going to sleep and for the last two weeks my sleep has been so erratic.  I have really bad apnea because of the only having one lung situation and sometimes I sleep 13 hours and other nights I will sleep only 3.  I really hate it because it messes up my blog plans also but I just gotta be patient and this shall pass and I will get back on a normal schedule.  Well, I did have the fallen nail just took a pic and will include it in this posting.  So, it is ironic that the name of this polish is Funny Money.  Here it is.

Nail that just fell off.

Ok, so this polish is nice but I will never be able to buy another bottle again.  I am currently bidding on a polish I want and decided to go to the Lynnderella store and they had this very polish.  I went ahead and copied the listing and you can see it below.

I won't pay $45.00 for this polish.  It is nice but there are a lot of other indies out there who can sell me something very close for less than $20.00.  Would you pay $45.00 for this polish?

OPI HTF Glacier Bay Blues

Hi,
Today, I have a beautiful polish from OPI that is considered an HTF(hard to find).  Well, HTF does not always necessarily mean that it sometimes just means you are going to pay a lot of money for it if you are dying to have it.  Like I've said before, I am pretty patient and just checked eBay everyday til I found it at a price I felt I was willing to pay for it.  I think I paid $11.00 for it with free shipping but have seen it as high as $30.00.   Sometimes I also think buying new polish and keeping it in good shape after some years it will become a hard to find.  I think I have a few like that like the polish "What is with the Cattitude"   is very sought after but I bought it on sale and have just taken care of it.  Limited Editions are always good to buy because they gain value, but buy two because what is the sense in having a polish you can't use hoping it will increase in value.  I have done that with a couple of polishes.  It's kind of like buying a diamond what is the sense in buying a diamond with where the four C's are bad.   I started with a 1/2 carat and then went up to a one carat now my husband wants to upgrade to a two but I convinced him just to go up 1/2 and get a really good quality diamond rather than have a 2 that is not of good quality.  I studied a lot about buying diamonds before getting the first one.   I need to brush up a little but for the most part I can still tell whether we are getting a good one or not.  There is a place in Houston that promises they offer the best prices but we went there and they wanted 3 times as much and the diamond was not even that great.  We thought we would get a better price instead of going to someplace like Jared or Zales but know your diamonds girls because they are our best friends.  They make our hands look pretty with our beautiful polish but patience is the key.

So, here is Jasper Jade.  It is really pretty and the camera just can't do it justice because it is teal or it is a really pretty royal blue.  Do you think it leans more towards blue or teal?

Ciao,
Patty

My favorirte nail polish FLOAM

--> I am currently participating in a challenge of what my favorite polish is.  I have been wanting a bottle of floam for months.  I finally got it thanks to Rhonni and Stephanie at Ninja Polish.  I was so happy to finally get it and I am not disappointed at all.  It is currently my favorite nail polish just because of the texture which is sandlike.  It dries fast and the colors are just so pretty.  I love it.

If you can get a bottle get it you will love it too.

Lush Haul

This weekend I went to Lush just to try their new hand creme and ended up with a lot more.  I really love Lush products, they just really make you feel clean and sometimes I look at the price and think it is expensive but I bought a jar of herbalism for $9.50 when I used to have no problem dropping $20.00 at Estee Lauder for a cleanser I had used on my face.  So,  It really isn't that expensive and the products last so long they really are a bargain.  I am going to go through the things I bought and let you know my thoughts on them.

1.  Lemony Flutter:  I already had some but have never really reviewed it.  This stuff is great for your cuticles.  I have been using it religiously for about four months now and I have not broke a nail.  It smells good and lasts a good 6-8 months the cost is $14.95 a little high but if you are a blogger you know how we do tend to abuse our hands.  This stuff comes right in as a rescue.   If you are just a polish maniac then you would benefit too, because I bet you do your nails at least five times a week if not every day.  Great product.

2.  The second product I bought was the Helping Hands Hand Creme.  This product was made for people who are constantly washing their hands, like nurses, but they realized that it was such a good creme they started selling it to the public and sold like wildfire.  I use it maybe twice during the day and my hands are softer than they were with the other creme I was using.  At night, I use Bath and Body Works Body Creme in Sleep.  The aroma just helps me sleep, which I have a lot of problems doing, I can't use it during the day so I needed something for day and the Helping Hands was just perfect. It has a light smell of rose.  Not overpowering and after just two four days of using it.  It is my favorite hand creme ever.  The cost was $17.95, a little pricey but I think it is going to last a long time since a little goes a long way.  The only downfall is that unless you carry a tote bag you can't really carry it in your purse but you can ask the girls at Lush to give you a sample jar and you can just through that in your purse.
3.  The third thing I bought was a new product they call Putty for your hands.  This is sold by weight so if you just want to buy $3.00 worth you can.  It is currently not on the website but it is in their catalog.  i bought only $5.00 worth and I like it.  I don't know how other people do their blogs but I set aside two days out of the week and just do manicures.  Sometimes, I do a glitter and not matter how hard I try sometimes their is some left over and I notice it when I am cropping pics.   I hate that left over glitter.  This putty stuff is like an exfoliate for your hands and leaves them soft with no need for lotion which is great!  Sometimes I notice my hands look a little dry in a picture so this is great after I take off a manicure, I use the putty and go on to the next one.  Even though it has lotion it doesn't leave my skin oily, it leaves it just moist because you did use water to clean them.  I like this product also.

4.  The fourth thing I bought were two bath bombs.  Just because I sometimes like to take a bath and love the way these smell and leave my skin smooth.  These are not  a necessary item.  It was just a little splurge for me.   One is lavender one is rose.  Cost.  $4.95.

5.  Lush has the same kind of policy MAC has with their back to MAC.  When you collect 5 black pots you can take it in for a fresh face mask.  These are refrigerated and do have a shelf life.  I had 5 pots so I got mine for free.  Since my skin has not been acting up I bought the Catastrophe Cosmetic.  As you can see it is loaded with blueberries.  It provides deep cleaning without drying the skin.  I haven't gotten around to using this.  I am going to today but I have used most of their masks and never had a break out.  They have several different masks and you are sure to find one that suits your skin.  Cost:  Free.

Media
6.  The last thing I bought was the Herbalism.  I have been using this product for around a year off and on.  What I mean by that is I don't use it everyday.  Lush calls it a decongestant for your pores.  This is for people with oily skin.  I don't like having oily skin but there is an advantage to it and that is I don't wrinkle as fast as people with dryer skin.  So, I use Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Facial cleanser.  The way I use the herbalism, is that I get the pea size amount and one squirt of my acne wash.  My pores have minimized and that is a good thing because I don't feel so bad when I don't wear makeup.  I also have the Angels on Bare Skin which I use when I need to.  You know what your skin needs.  The Angels on Bare Skin is for combo skin types.  There are days I use the herbalism and days I use Angels on Bare skin.  The best analogy I can make here is sometimes you know you need pink lipstick for what you are wearing or sometimes you need a neutral.  Just get to know your skin.  It is the only one you've got and you gotta listen to it because it does speak to you.  You can buy any amount of herbalism or Angels on Bare Skin you want.  They have two other cleansing rolls and one of those might be better for you.  They are called Dark Angels, I don't like it makes my tub black and I aways break out when I have used it.  The other one is Aquamarina.  I really like it but it is not what my skin needs it is more for really sensitive skin that needs some extra moisture.  It smells beautiful but it is just not for me.  One thing I do need to say about Herbalism is that it sticks.  It literally smells like pickles and olives but you get used to it especially if you mix it.  It is somewhat hard to use alone because it is like wet sand.  That is why I mix it.  If you don't like the facial product you bought you take it back and they will replace it with something else but don't buy it and then a month later take it back.  Use it a few days if it doesn't work then take it back.  They also always ask if there is something you want a sample of so take advantage of that.  The sales people are always nice.  I've never really had a bad experience and they aren't pushy.  You say no and that's it.  They go no further and I like that.

7.  I thought I was done but I did buy one last thing,  It is called a sugar scrub.  Cost $4.95.  it is an exfoliator for your skin and since I am peeling like a leper right now from my vacation.  I thought I would try it,  The sales guy said it was great for getting rid of acne on you back.  Which I don't have but he did tell me was also good for cellulite.  HINT. HINT.  I have some on my arms and in the booty area but come on.  I am 48 it is a rite of passage.  So, this stuff smells good and did take care of alot of the peeling skin I had.  I guess better start on that cellulite now.  It was just funny because he was telling me he had and then he a big breath and whispered to me "a cellulite problem."  I just looked at him and said I know.  He was really funny.

Overall, Lush is a great middle of the line brand.  They have alot of other products.  They came out with a small makeup line and I am dying to try it out but buy the time I got to the store they were sold out of almost everything.  Most of their product are vegan.  They donate monies to charities and their sales people are well trained.  If you haven't tried any of their products and are in an area where there is a Lush store check it out.  Most Macy's have Lush in the store and there are free standing stores.  You can go to their website at Lush.com and request a catalog or simply browse through their products on-line and you can order from the site.

Hope this review helps and if you have used Lush products please share with us.  I would like to know what kind of experience you have had with them and what products you've used that are good or bad.

 Till later, Ciao,
Patty

My Favorite Things Challenge- Favorite Color

Good Morning,
Boy, it has been a long time since I have been able to say that.  I always do posts at night but I am trying to change things up a bit.  Today, I have for you my favorite color nail polish.  It is and OPI and it is a HTF but the color is a beutiful lilac that turns to green and I searched for it until I found it at a price I could afford.  It is called Movin' Out.   I am not even sure when it came out but it is a favorite of many an OPI lover.  It is gorgeous and in my favorite color which is purple.  So, here is Movin' Out.

So, what do you think.  Do you have this one in your collection?  Would you pay more that the regular price of an OPI polish for it?

Ciao ,
Patty
