Kelly Challenge-Dots

Ok, I am going to be honest. Dots are not my specialty. Almost anything freehand is not my specialty. I can't draw very well but I do my best. So, this is my best try on dots. I realize I need to practice more.

So, there is my attempt at dots.  I'll work on it more and that is all I have to say.

Kimber's Challenge Day 5- Blue

For my favorite blue I chose Deborah Lippman's Ray of Light.  I love that it is navy almost back and it has red flakies in it.  It claims to be holographic but it really isn't.  I've worn it three times and I just don't see the holo in it.  I see the flakies but no holo.  I got this when it first came out at Nordstrom's and paid full price $18.00 but I just had to have it.  Even if it is not a holo it is still really pretty.

Do you htink this is a holo?   Or is it blue polish with red flakies?

Ciao, bellas.

You Put What on your Nail

I was at the craft store the other day just looking for inspiration. when I saw these really pretty feathers and thought hey those would look good on my nails.  So, I did a gradient with a-England's Holy Grail and OPI My Boyfriend Scales walls.  It was pretty easy to do.   I put a top coat and then put the feather on and another coat of top coat.  I think it is going to be a big trend this fall.  A small bunch of feathers is not more than $2.00.  You need to shape the feather to fit your finger if you want to cover it or you can just use it as an accent.  Here is what I came out with.

Do you ever have trouble opening your nail polish?  Stay away from the pliers.  Try this first.   It looks easy and less dangerous.  I personally have not tried but I will next time I can't open a bottle.  If anybody does try it let us know how it goes.

Ludurana Monochrome Cyan Gold

This is going to be a short post just to show you this beautiful polish I got from Ninja Polish.  It is totally beautifull.  I already ordered some more.  I just love this particularr color so much.  If you haven’t checked out Ninja Polish.  You need to check out their website.  They have stamping plates.  The polishaholic famous FLOAM, Models Own, Hits and several other lines.  The shipping is cheap also.  I Rhonni and Stephanie have always answered my e-mail and I greatly appreciate that.  So, if you haven’t checked out their site.  Check it out.  I have four more posts for tonight but gotta go get a mammogram tomorrow.  Those things hurt early so I can’t stay up late and write this awesome post I was going to write.  Also,  I have over 100 followers.  I know part of it is for a giveaway but I just feel like it is another achievement that you all made possible.  I going to ask some other bloggers but I want to have another giveaway for reaching this mark or is it too soon.  I will find out more tomorrow.  If they agree, I am going to put another little giveaway together.  It might be just like this one small but fun.  So, thank you all so much for reading and following, you don’t know what it means to me.

Kimber's Challenge Day 4 Green

I have quite a few greens, glitter greens, frosty greens, creme greens but when it comes to holo greens there is only one ultimate holo green.  I thought about a-England's Dragon and St. George but nothing compares to Nubar's Reclaim.  I remember the first time I saw it.  I was in love.  I had to find out what it was.  The thing is I saw it on You Tube and the only information I had was Nubar.  A good start but then I started looking for it through the beauty blogs and found the name then found it on ebay and bought it immediately.  I love it so much but this is only the third time I wear it.   I don't know why.  It is like a little jewel that you only wear for something special.  No stamping needed.  It is beautiful just the way it is.  And here it is Nubar Reclaim.  It costs about $7.50-$8.00 a bottle and you can buy it on Amazon or ebay.  I don'[t want to leave you in the suspense I was in.

Isn't she pretty?  It is not a dupe of a-England's Dragon the holo is more spread out on that one although beautiful in it's own righgt.  This was my choice for favorite green.  Which do you think is prettier a-England's Dragon or this one?
Be sure and checkout the other girls particpating in this.
Ciao for now,
Patty

Autumn Leaves

Frank Sinatra sang about Autumn Leaves and right about now.  I sure wouldn't mind them.  Even though Spring is my favorite season.  I love autumn but in Texas it just depends on how long hurricane season lasts to determine whether we have autumn or not.  All I know is that the temp today was in the three digits and I stayed inside until 4:30 when I went for my normal Monday thing I do.  It was so hot Goldie didn't even want to go pee.  I hope she did not pee in the apartment.  She likes to pee in my stamping station.  It is 11:42 pm in Houston right now and she is in the middle of the bed.  She likes autumn too.  Thant is when she runs around and plays by herself of course because she does not like other dogs except her dumb baby daddy.  He is coming to visit this weekend again.  I'll make sure to get picture of the too.  They are so ugh.  So, I am ready for fall with these nails.  I used Did you 'ear about Van Gogh Me and William Tell me about it both from OPI and stamped using Konad Plate M78

So, are you ready for autumn or do you want a little more summer?  Either way it will be here soon we can't stop time.

Brunch with Mom

Now, if your married you probably have one a mother-in-law and sometimes I think there are no in betweens you either hate her or love her and vise versa.  I loved my mother-in-law.  She was a feisty, fiery red head from the Bronx and she did not take shit from anyone. I think I brought out the soft side of her.  Being from a Hispanic family and a huge family we always hugged and kissed our aunts, uncles, and grandparents.  We told them we loved them.  When I entered the Greenberg family, those things were not there and I did not notice.  When I first reunited with my mother in law (if you remember I knew my husband and his family as a little girl because we were neighbors) I hugged her and gave her a little present I bought for her. I was always taught never to show up at some one's house empty handed.   She looked at me in shock and smiled.  She said,  "I don't remember you"  and I just told her it was a long time ago.  We went on to eat dinner and the next day shopping.  We went out that night and the next day we went to Wal-Mart.  She had been mad at my brother in law and he called for us to pick him up at the movies.  (His daughter told me he went to the movies to get some sleep)  So, he gets in the car and says hi to me and gives me a big hug.  That did not sit well with my mother in law.  My brother-in-law and I hug out in the same crowd after my husband left town.  So, we were talking about the old gang and what they were doing.  Dropped him off and as soon as he got off the car she says you see how he treats me he doesn't even talk to me.  I explained our relationship and she looked at me a little skeptical.  I was packing my bags getting ready to leave when my husband runs in the room and I heard her screaming.  I hope Patty breaks up with you, you finally find a nice Jewish girl who likes you but I hope she breaks up with you.   I said what happened.  He said she was mad because her son did not talk to her.  I made my way out again hugged her and thanked her for her hospitality.  She looked oddly at me. My husband and I ended up getting married and I would talk to her on the phone once a week.  Finally, I told her I loved her and she just didn'[t know what to say.  The next time we spoke I ended with an I love you and she said it back.  I noticed my husband never told her he loved her.  I told him I had done it and she reacted well.  We became very close.  I even let her teach me to knit.  My grandmother taught me how to croquet but not knit she started to but died.  I never tried again.  Until Mom came along.  Wee would go visit and spend hours in the yarn store and she would complain that she never saw her sons.  I talked to both of them and told them can't you take an hour on Sunday and take her some bagels.  All she wants is brunch with her sons.  They made excuses.   Then she got really ill and I stood up and took care of her in her last days.  She uttered her last words to me, and said she wanted to go home but she was scared that my husband was going to cry, I told her not to worry, go home and would take care of him forever.  She closed her eyes and never opened them.  I walked out and looked at my husband and his brother and said all she ever wanted was brunch with her sons.  I held back my tears and comforted them.  When they were getting ready to take her to the funeral home I so clearly remember her hands.  They were painted perfectly.  She always kept her hands painted a bright frosted red oval shaped.  She was a polish alcoholic.  She always would look at my nails with a scrutinizing look when they were green or blue she told me she most liked neutral colors on me because of my olive skin.  So, I would always try and please her by wearing something I knew she would approve of.  No stamping at that time.  So, this manicure is done for my beloved mother in law who I still miss but know she is in a better place.  Here's to you Mom you would like these especially for brunch.

(I did darken the pictures so you could see the stamping a little better)

I did what I am going to call a monochromatic stamping.  I used Illamasqua Faithful.  It dries a little matte but I went ahead and put a coat of Essence Special Effects Top coat, Then I stamped with China Glaze Swanky Silk using Konad Plate M63.  I really like this look and I am going to try it with some of the other polishes from the bohemian line.  Except for the purple these polishes stamp very well.
So what do you think of this monochromatic look.  Like it or make it go away?

Jelly Sandwich

Every since I saw the jelly sandwich I have loved creating the look. Some of you who read regularly know I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches because they are good and I can eat them no restricstions there. My first polish from Whimsical was Peanut Butter and Jelly and Hatched. I bought the PBJ just because I loved the name. Hatched cause I love yellow, but if you will the giveaway you will not be dissappointed with PBJ. I even wrote a little fictional story of how the jelly sandwich (the Polish One was created) I think it is pretty cute and if you haven't read it I think you must. I haven't figured out how to do links at the bottom of my posts because I always end up coming up with some crazy nail idea and have to write it down or ok, I am not going to make excuses. I tried and it didn't go through once and I forgot but I need to do that. Anyway I loved this particular mani because of the color. It's teal and then its blue, I don't know. I used dust that I got at Urban Outfitters for the jelly and I used the sheer polish Redondo Beach from American Apparrel. It was easy peasy. If you can get your hands on some of these sheer polishes get at at least one, they cost $6.00 or 3 for $15.00. I think I have four of them and want the other ones but I am nearing my polish budget for the month but then end of the month is only days away and I did spend my money on the rest of the OPI Elvis collection, which I will premiere sometime this week. It is kinda cool. All but two are black label OPI's so you know those cost some money and are hard to find. So, back to the sandwich. I just used one coat of the AA then the UO then the AA again. Top coat Nubar's Diamond top coat which is really good. Only problem with Nubar for me is that you have to order it but like I order everything so I don't even know why I said it. Ok, I am going to post the link to the post called "The invention of the Jelly Sandwich". Then I gotta go, got two more posts to do tonight. So, check back later for two more posts I am trying to reach a certain number of posts this month. I am determined and will reach my goal. So, here are the pictures and the link will be a the end.

So, what do you think is blue or teal?   Do you like the jelly sandwich craze love or make it go away?

When LIfe Throws You Lemons Make Lemonade

I had to write this post after ending the last one with this statement.  I hate hearing it but it is true sometimes you just got to make the best of things sometimes.  Now, I am not really able to drink lemonade and I really do like it another one of my forbidden fruits citrus.  So, I just take it for what it really means sometimes things go wrong or not the way you wanted but you can put a spin on it.  I prefer the famous words of the the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes you get what you need".  I think I would be less pissed off if I heard that instead of the lemonade thing just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
So for this manicure I did a gradient of orange and yellow and I wanted to put orange stamping on the yellow and yellow on the orange until I remembered a manicure where I put yellow polish and stamped with orange and got pink.  Why?  Because you gotta remember your primary colors yellow + red = orange.  So, the red in the orange is just enough that when you stamp on yellow you get pink.  So, I thought crap.  I did not want to stamp white because I knew it would not look good so I just used black and this is what I got.

So, I got lemons and oranges who cares it still looked nice and I got compliments and the hubby liked it, so that is all that matters.

So do you have a manicure that just started going all wrong and then came out ok in the end, if you did share it with us.

Patty

Urban Outfitters Marble Polish

So, Thursday Goldie was restless and wanted to go out for a ride so I decided we’d go across town and visit American Apparel for some more sheer polish.  I really like them, they are great for jelly sandwiches and the price is great 3 for $15.00.  Then we went down the road to Urban Outfitters because I keep hearing from Essie Rae at IHeart Pretty Polish that they have this polish that might be a dupe for Mermaid Dream from Deborah Lippmann.  So, I went to look and found it but found two others that I really liked on is called Lollipop which I think is a dupe for Candy Store from Deborah Lippmann and another one called Dust.  Then they had a four pack of soft matte polishes for  $5.00 and they had Model’s Own Polish, three from the Beetlejuice Collection for $5.00 all of which I had.  Mad me mad.  But they also had something very interesting a Marble nail polish.  I had to check it out it was $4.00 a bottle.  So, I picked the one with Teal, Yellow and taupe.  This is what I got  a beautiful teal but no marbling.  I thought of going to get another darker color but I read the reviews and they all said it did not work.  I am still not sure about that since maybe once you get to towards the bottom of the bottle some of the other colors might com through.  Plus today when my husband and I were out on our usually Saturday morning errands we went to this shopping center we don’t frequent often but their was and Einstein Bagels there and he loves his bagels  He eats them as dessert and not the sweet ones.  I found a new Urban Outfitters super close to where we live it is brand new and if I wouldn’t have had the worst headache we would have stopped but the good thing is I know where it is so next week I am going by to see if they might have some other Model’s Own polish.
Ok, this marble polish, does not marble but the formula is good.  It dries fast and the color is beautiful so, I am happy with it.  You know the saying, “When Life Throws You Lemons, Make Lemonade”

Kat Von D Nails

Today, I want to show you a manicure I did using Kat Von D nail polish.  It was sold at Sephora for  $14.00 but my patience paid off and about a month later I found it on the website for $7.00 a bottle.  Most people have an opinion about Kat von D.  She has had her highs and lows but overall, I kinda like her.  She has managed to go from nothing to having her own line at Sephora, a TV show and she dated Nikki Sixx that is pretty cool.  Of course her low point is Jesse James.  Either way, I would like to meet her because I think she is pretty cool.   I like her style too.  So here is the mani I came up with.  I used the four colors of her collection and did my first splatter mani but instead of using plain black I used my black crackle nail polish.  It was a mess and on some pictures there is a little black that did not clean up well but just think that for that one day I am a tattoo artist and of course I would have some black ink on my hands.  I also was able to go to her shop last year on Le Brea in Hollywood.  I wanted to go there just to see the shop.  We also went to the world famous Pink's Hot Dogs.  We went to the Whiskey A Go Go, where rock god Jim Morrison got his start and rock princess Janis Joplin got her start, even Jimi Hendrix played there.  I get goose pimples just thinking of it.  We also took the TMZ tour.  Now, I love TMZ and if you get the chance I highly recommend it.  It is just funny and very enjoyable.  So, here are my pics hope you like them.
