Kimber Challenge Animal Prints

I was kind of out of it last week but I am back in the challenge and today’s challenge was animal prints.  I did a snake and I hated the way it looked so I decided to make at least two parts realistic.  The Lion spots in Ludurana Cyan/ then the blue is Ludurana green/gold, it could be a fish and the top part is just a zebra strips in Ludurana red/orange.  Let me tell you.  I am loving these Ludurana polishes.  I want the whole line of colors.  They look so pretty.  I did not do a gradient I just painted the polish on where I thought the stamp would hit the color and I got it pretty close.  I like this manicure way more than I like the snake.  It is more colorful and I got to use the 3 polishes.  I used Konad plate 78 to get the design.  I know it is not totally realistic but I think the colors are really nice together.

Ethereal Jelly Sandwich---Alert

I have been singing the praises of Elmer's glue as a base for glitter mani's.  I might need to take it back.  I used it on this jelly sandwich that I did last night.  Did my usual lemony flutter and helping hands and my white gloves.  Woke up and took a shower.  I usually shower at night but my schedule has been so messed up I am trying to change it.  Got out of the shower and noticed the polish on one of my nails was gone.  I found it perfectly in tact and went and glued it on.  On Sunday's my husband and I usually run errands.  My polish just slid off.  Look at this.  Can I reuse them?

The manicure was just what I wanted it to be.  I used Opi don't mess with my tutu and a gold round glitter from essence.  I think it is something a bride might even wear, but no glue .  I think it is possible that since I used a jelly polish it slid off.  I will wear this again without glue or after a shower.

So, they look ok if they would have stayed on I was thinking maybe I could use them again and just re glue them on.  What do you think?

Glimmer by Erica I Heart You

I think I might have found a polish that will ease my need for Lynnderella when after reading a post by The Crumpet about Lynnderella.   I knew something had happened between Llarowe and Ms. Lynn but hearing the whole story made me really not want to buy another Lynderella.  I go on ebay everyday hoping to find a bottle for $20.00 like a couple of people said I could but not true.  I have found nothing.  Now, I found Glimmer by Erica and it is close to Lynderella.  I love this polish.  I just placed another order and if you win the giveaway you will get one of these polishes too.  It goes on fairly well, two coats is all you need and she makes really pretty colors.  If you want to see more of her polish you can find her on Etsy.com.  Don't forget the glue because that really works it makes me want to wear glitter polish every day.  Forget about the foil and the acetone.  Glue is the way to go.  For those of you who do not know.  You place a coat of elmer's glue on your nail as a base.  Once it dries, go about doing your manicure, base coat, polish and a topcoat.  When you are ready to take it of gently lift a corner with an orange stick and it will come right off.  It is amazing.

So, here is I Heart You.

These have just a two coats of Seche Vite.  One thing I am kind of learning is that you do need to press the glitter down before you put the glitter polish, just to make sure it is compact and the seche vite goes on smoother.  I did not do it with this but I did it with another glitter polish I used after this and it makes a big difference.  I thought the seche vite was was to shiny so I used Essie Matte Coat on the next pictures and pressed the polish down and you can see a difference.

Do you prefer the matte look or the seche vite?  I prefer the matte but I think only because I pressed the glitter down.  What do you think?

Out of Sorts

I missed two challenges on Kimbers Challenge.  I was pretty sick last week and that I look at my posts and I just feel that was not me.  I also took on the Lifeables campaign and it was emotionally very difficult for me.  Next month is National Depression Awareness Month and I have to say I do have a story but not what you think a story of my recovery and current remission from depression.  I am diagnosed with major depressive disorder.  I have a serious condition that my brain does not produce enough serotonin, epinephrine, or norepenehrine for me to normal without medication.  My depression is totally chemical.  I have suffered from panic attacks since I was around seven years old.  A panic attack is terrible.  I haven't had one for over a year due to being on the right medication.  But right now, I have been struggling with my post traumatic stress disorder.  I have suffered so much trauma that I stuffed away that one day it did catch up to me.  So, doing the Lifeables was very hard and I did have an incident.  So, last week was pretty bad for me with a earache and not seeing my therapist, I did not have a good week.  I love doing the promotional ads because when my doctor does feel I can go back to work I cannot go back to what I made a career of which was that of a social worker and he said I can never go back to Law School.  So, besides being much older than other people entering the workforce.  I have to come up with a whole new career and I have chosen to be a freelance writer.  The more things I get published and paid for the better it is for my resume.  I just need to be selective of what campaigns I take and the Lifeables, let's just say I was not ready for.  I am going to get back to what I was doing.  I see other bloggers who just show swatches and have so many followers and I love to stamp and there is always a story behind it.  I tried something else and I did not like it.   So, I am going back to more stamping with stories behind some of the stampings and not just through out swatches all the time.  If you liked what you saw this week and want to see it all the time, I am sorry, you won't be seeing that all the time.  There has to be a balance for me and just swatching colors is not for me.  So, I am looking forward to tomorrow when I can create a couple of mani's and I do have a couple of polishes that I want to swatch.  So, I am coming back because it has depressed me just swatching.  I ended up ordering a lot of polish this week and I ordered the whole James Bond collection so I am dying for that to come in.  I just wanted to share this with you during National Depression Month I will post about recovery because if you are suffering from depression and think oh well it is just me, you are so wrong.  Life can be completely different.  I still get sad but that is normal, you just don't need to live like that all the time.
Ciao for now,
Patty

Essie Penny Talk

I don't know how this happened but these are some other pictures I found.  This one is Essie's Penny Talk from their metallics collection.  I know it came out a while back but sometimes it is good to go back and see a collection and say, I should have bought that but if you don't see it again you could miss out on a really good polish.  This one went on so smooth with no streaks.  I loved it and it looks so pretty.  Since I messed up the braided nail I was going to post on Friday.  I am going to use this for a braided nail sometime during the week.  It has just the right amount of pink to tone down the brassiness of a gold.  I believe this was the best selling polish of the line and in a minute you will see why.

Did you buy Penny Talk when it came out.  You can still buy it at Ulta or on ebay or Amazon.  eBay and Amazon will be much cheaper than any retail store if you still want it.

Orly Hang Ten

I don't know what is going on but I have just begun to notice that Orly has some kick ass colors.  I bought this one because it was really cheap.  I put it on and was not disappointed but then I saw the pictures and I was wow this is really pretty.  So, I have bought a couple of Orly's which you have seen and I like that most are two coaters and dry fast.  I love this one but I don't like that it is a four coater.

So, I love that it is frosty and blue, it totally reminds me of Hanukkah.  I will be able to make some great mani's with this.  I will also do Christmas ones so don't worry and even though I hate Halloween I'll come up with some stuff for Halloween.  I just think the name does not really go with the polish.because I think it looks a little wintry but it is called hang ten which to me is purely summer.  What do you think do you think this polish is more summer or winter?

Beatlemania Deborah Lippman Daytripper

Now, I do my Beatlemania series and I have one I am ready to post but I am waiting till next week because this color is so pretty, I love it. I am in love with Lippman polishes. I swear like I said the other day I would love to work with her. Her Stairway to Heaven is exactly what I would envision it to be. I just love her whole vibe with naming polishes after great songs. This color does not dissappoint. It was smooth and had a great consistency but it is a three coater. It might not be too good for fall but stamp it and you could make it work. It definitely screams summer. but in Texas we get like at the most three months of winter so yeah, I am still wearing white. I'll stop in October. But Daytripper what a great song. I am pretty sure I know what they are talking about but it would only be speculation. The Beatles manager was a serious drug user but no one really knew about it. I think one of them found out that their manager was a drug user and that this song is about him. I might be totally wrong and if someone knows what or who they are talking about please let me know. I would love to know. Here are the pictures

So, do you like this one and do you know the story behind the song Daytripper?

Lifeables

When I volunteered to do this assignment, I really thought it would be pretty easy but as I started reading I realized that I really didn’t think I had any pictures to do the assignment.  I knew I had one group of pictures I thought I could use to.  This made me realize how important lifeables could be.  After my second divorce, since I left the house I never went back in and lost all the pictures of my children when they were babies.  Most pictures were torn because I was in them and really not good to anyone.  My daughter has the pictures but it hurts her not to have full pictures of her mother and father together.  With the divorce rate higher than ever it is likely that she is not the only with torn pictures.  With lifeables you could keep and in tact photo albums for children whose parents out of selfishness destroy pictures.  I am not a saint and can’t say I haven’t torn pictures never thinking what was getting lost.

DSCF3658
This is my husband and his mother.  She was really into taking pictures and when we got married she gave me all his baby pictures, school pictures, report cards and a lot of discipline reports.  My parents were not like that.  I really don't remember taking many pictures other than the ones we took at school.  So, I guess as a mother I did not take that many pictures either.   It is sad.  I wish we would have but in using this program I did see advantages and disadvantages.  I really think it is geared toward families with children.  Yes,  my husband and I have five children between us but one grandchild died and his sister is seven.  Her father will have no more children.  My other son is 31 and isn't going to have children.  My daughter swears she does not want children and if she does she wants one that comes without a husband.   So, I won't even get to be much of a grandmother.  My husband's children have limited contact with us and no children there.  For a couple like us, we would find no use for this but my sister who has four growing children and has her camera ready for their first fart, she'd probably use it. One thing I did find about this program that was a negative for me was that since I had no children pictures to put in I kept getting kicked back to add a child.  It was a little annoying since it just made it that much more evident that I had only one or two pictures of my daughter.  There were some mishaps that happened while I was using it but I can't say for sure that it was the program.  I read some of the other reviews and no on mentioned having any problems so it might have been my lack of pictures.  It was somewhat frustrating for me.   I am going to show it to my sister and spread the word to people who have children of course but it does make me a little sad that we don't have children except of course at night when I just want to go to sleep, or if I want some silence.  Then I enjoy no children.  But hey, there are a lot of nieces and nephews to love, so we are happy with that.

Cult Nails Manipulative

About a month ago Glossy I think it is 49 had a sale on Cult Nails.  I ended up getting two bottles only because I had a lot of the ones they already had but something drew me to this one and I am not sorry.  I love it.  I wish I was wearing it right now but I am wearing something else because it will go with what I am wearing tomorrow.
Today is my husband's birthday and we are supposed to go do something tomorrow so right now I am wearing a polish called I Heart you.  (Pictures to be posted tomorrow).  I have three favorite indie lines but I think I am adding a fourth.  Any way Manipulative is a cream with slight sparkles of silver, it isn't a baby blue because it has more green in it.  I think it will also be a great color for fall because it is a cool color and if you see some of the clothing for fall there is still a lot of color.  Color blocking will be the big thing this fall.
Oh, my I need to tell you, Coach is having a sale until the 24th.  25% of any purchase so if you have been eying something now is the time to buy.  I have been collecting Coach purses for like eight years.  I am going to post them on my pinterest page by the end of next week because I might put two on ebay.  Anyway here is the beautiful and conniving manipulative.  I like the name too.

I really like this color.  I again have nothing in my collection in this color.  What do you think do you like it?

OPI. Dulce de Leche

Have you ever had dulce de leche? It is a wonderful Mexican candy easy to make and you can put it on anything. I usually just eat it out of the jar. It is so good. My Mom used to make it at Christmas time and stuff it into dates and even prunes. ( my mom and I have problems - prunes - stomach). The were so good. So, this is a polish that has been on my wish list and when I saw it for auction on eBay, I had to win. I did and I love this color.

I stamped this with a candy design from my DRK-A plate. I did it in wine because my favorite dulce de leche candies come in a wine candy wrapper. The accent nail is in China Glaze Material Girl.

Found This Last Night. The Easiest blk/wth Manicure

Katy Perry has been sporting this manicure. I saw it about a month ago when she was on the cover of Elle magazine and when I saw it I immediately came home and did it photographed it and put something else on. It lay there in my new folder and I noticed it and thought why has it taken me so long to post this.

This is so easy all I did was paint my nails white wait till they dry then you can use a striper pen or just the brush of your black nail polish and make the curve let that dry and do two dots.  It is easy but I got a little impatient and smudged the black dot on the index finger.  It is easy and it really looks nice.  So, when you want something fast and easy try this, it is fun and looks like you put some effort into it.

Butter London Macbeth

Macbeth was my last choice in the Butter London BOGO sale and I wasn't crazy about it and thought I'll just go trade it out but when I put it on i found It was the perfect red.  No other way to put it.  It went on great with two coats and I am dying to wear it soon.  I am glad I made this choice.  It really makes a great addition to my reds collection.

So, a lot of people do not like red are you a red nail polish wearer or do you just hate red?
