Kimber’s Challenge Day 26 Inspired by a Pattern

Well we are heading into the final stretch and I feel pretty good about the challenges to come.  If I did this as a regular post It would be called “Granny Panties”.   Yes, this is a pair of panties from Victoria’s Secret.  I love the patterns they come up with and this is one of my favorite patterns.  It was a fun manicure to do.  I used Goldfinger from the new OPI Skyfall collection on accent and thumb and then Zoya’s Raven and a Nikka K polish in gold.  I made dots and when they were almost dry I connected them to make them look like flowers like on the pattern.   I didn’t want to take it off but I think it is a great look for night.  Honestly I thought it would look a little more childish since it was flowery but it looks fairly dressy.

Polish of day.26 American Apparel Lopez Canyon

Today, I have American Apparel's Lopez Canyon.  It is a rust orange.  American Apparel mainly makes creme polishes so if you are looking for a creme they are probably sure to have it.  Their polish is also priced very well at 3 for $15.00.  On-line they cost much more.  They dry fast and really last.  I have quite a few but I don't have their whole collection.  They do have a good selection, so if you have an American Apparel in your town I urge you to try them.

If you can tell the formula looks really smooth.  It also dries fast. What kinds of things do you look for in a polish?

Kimber's Challenge 25 Inspired by Fashion

The last two challenges really blew my mind so I looked for something that I would wear and I am not a bells and whistles type dresser.  I like to dress nice but comfort is key.  I often feel more comfortable in dresses than in pants and probably have more dresses than jeans.  I live in Texas and throw a sundress on with some flip flops is a popular dress style even today it was so hot I could have worn a sundress.  So, I found a really pretty dress that I would definitely wear anywhere even to temple but I would wear a little short sleeve sweater.  Call me old fashioned but I don't think shoulders or cleavage should be purposely shown in an place of worship.   So, here is my Dress and the nails I would wear with it.

I know it looks easy but it is cute.  It is something that I like and this is what I would wear.  I am going to blow you all away on the inspired by a piece of art.  I used Butter London Blagger, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Butter London Marrow and OPI A Grape Fit.

On a note I am a challenge behind but will post it tomorrow because I already know what I am doing.
Ciao for now,
Patty

OPI's Skyfall collection

This was a collection that I had to have the whole kit and caboodle.  I bought the display.  I am debating the gold polish.  I'll tell you why because I would not use it.  I would keep it in the box and wait five years and sell it.  We'll see.  So this is a big collection, I have three swatches so far.  It sis hard because I lost all my other pics and I am replacing them and I keep a file of manicures so I always have manicures.  I also think of something then I have to go create it.  So, today, I have Moonraker, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and SkyFall swatches.

This is Skyfall when I saw it on other people.  I did not like it but I liked it on myself.  I really loved it.  I is a deep red and the formula is great.  My mind has been changed about this one.

This is On Her Majesty's Secret Service when I saw this one I knew I would like it.  I love it.  It is a three coater but the color is it grey is it a metallic green.  Who knows it is just pretty and pretty to just stare at.  I tend to do that alot when I wear pretty polish.  I stare at my fingers.

This is Moonraker.  I love it.  I is like foil on your fingers.  I had no problems with it where usually with metallics you have streaks and it is hard to work with but not this one.  OPI has really created great formulas for their polishes.

So, those are three.  If anyone else bought the whole collection and wants a display I have an extra one.  I know mine looked wonky but I plan to iron it out.  I am not sure if I have an iron but I am sure I can straighten it out by ironing it.  I know this sounds weird but I can't stand wrinkly money so what I do is I actually wash my paper money I just put it in the back of a pair of jeans and then get it out and put it in my wallet and it dries nice and crisp.  Weird I know, but if you want a display e-mail me and we can work something out for getting it to you.  Otherwise I am going to throw it away.

Ciao for now,
Patty

Polish of Day 28. Nars Rebel Yell

This is a really good red.  I know there are no horns and whistles but it is a good honest red.  It is like  a Hermes scarf.  It never goes out of style. I think everyone has worn this color on your hands or toes at one time or another.  I think this is the first color I ever painted my nails.  I am not sure if  this color is part of the permanent line but you might find it on eBay.  That is where I got mine.

I know.  No bells and whistles but classic.
Caio bellas,
Patty

So, have you ever worn this color before?

Pretty and Polished New Colors

Last night my husband went to walk the dog and check the mail the way he does every night and he asked if I had any packages and I said no.  He said oh, no Goldie is going to get mad.  He said she always gets a little huffy when there are no packages.  She’s put on some weight and isn’t too happy.  When they came back she was jumping around and my husband said you have a package and I looked and said oh, boy, it is from Chelsea at Pretty and Polished I eagerly opened the package and wanted to go do my nails right then and there.  Unfortunately with five children between the two of us it seems like one of them is always in a crisis and they are adults.  So, there was a little crisis last night with my husband’s daughter and today with his and mine at the same time.  Nothing major they just call because they don’t know what to do and you advise them and they say they are going to do something else.  Why call?   So, crisis is now alleviated it is 7:00 pm.  I have time.  I run to the polish room and start my swatching and I am in love.  Literally in love.  I have one on one hand and another on the other hand right now and I did not know which to take off so I’ll just think about it tomorrow.  In the meantime you get to see these lovely swatches.

The first one is Pretty as a Peacock.  it is a teal color with purple, black and blue glitters.  It is gorgeous.   I did put a pair of panties on.  I used Nubar’s Indigo Illusion.  It was sitting right in front of me and was close enough to not change the color of the polish.

The next one is Everyone Loves Penguins.  It is an off white base with large bluish black glitters, some smaller ones and yellow ones.   I used OPI’s My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  This one was different to work with because you want to make sure that you get the big blue glitters on each nail but I notice that with new polishes like this you have to dig a little but after you’ve used it around two times, you got smooth sailing you’ll get glitter in every brush stroke.

Polish of Day 27 Orly’s Mysterious Curse

This polish is from the Dark Shadows line and if you want to talk about shape shifters this is one.  The first coat goes on purple and the second goes on blue.  It is really pretty but you don’t know what color it is going to be when you look at it.  Warning:  This is a stainer so make sure you use a good base coat I put it on with nothing since I was swatching it and it stained bad.  I had to buff it down and then soak in some lemon juice but it was worth it because it really is a beautiful color.

Macy's haul

This is new for me and I don't want to stray away from polish but I just got some cute things at Macy's for a really good price.

First, I got this army-like sweater.  It retails for 79.00.  I paid 32.00.

The next thing I got was a short sleeve sweater in olive with fringes on the bottom.  I do like fringes when they are done right.  Sometimes they just make you look like a country whore.

Another sweater that is short sleeved but has some character because you can wear a shirt underneath it in almost any color you want and it has accent buttons down the side.  This was a bargain.  $13.00.

The next thing I just had to get was this white shirt because it was $7.00 and I would have been stupid not to.  They had it in black at the same price but I think by the time I got to check out they sold out and I was not able to purchase it.  I like it because I can wear it with anything.  I have.  Last weekend I wore it with denim shorts and my pink ugg boots.  KISS.  I was comfortable all day long.

Next, the greatest invention.  Jeggings that look like jeans.  These ones have the zipper and back pockets they are not leggings.  They feel like my pajamas.  I searched the web for a denim pair and found one from Hue for $39.00, which I will buy if I can't find them cheaper.  These were $14.00.  Only pair in my size.  I was happy because I have a pair of red ones that I bought at Ross which by the way I do find things there that are at Macy's sometimes much cheaper and I love that you can get a whole Color Club collection for $7.99.  I predict I will be wearing these pants often.  Pajamas they feel like pajamas.

Then I stumbled across this little sexy little number and thought I can get away with that.  I've lost about 15 lbs and still going.  I can wear this with some black tights or if it is a little too short I can wear the jeggings with my short boots.  I have a pair of like 5" heels.  I may be forty eight but my feet are in good condition and I still can keep up with my 22 year old daughter when it comes to heels no fear here.  So, I paid $12,00 for this.    I am kind of short.  Like 5'4"  so I will have to see how low that left side goes.

So, a girl needs some accessories like shoes, and shoes and more shoes and more shoes.  So, I really wanted another pair of Uggs.  So, I bought the chestnut shorty because my calves are kind of on the big side which make my legs look great with high heels in dress but damn hard to find boots that come to the knee and the tall ones since they are flat would make me look really short so make up for it by getting the short ones.  Price $155.00

I meant to show you my pink uggs when I got them but forgot.  So here they are.  They are cute because they tie in the back.  I like them.  One of my first posts is my denim Uggs.  I was scared to show a manicure so I showed the Uggs first.

Got my Toms.  Gotta have Toms and these ones are really nice they are wool and have almost the same lining in the back that the Uggs have inside nice and comfy.  Oh, prices.  These were $53.95

I know the uggs and toms were expensive but the money I saved on the clothes, I still came out alright.

And to top things off.  I went to a Charming Charlies.  I had never been there.  They have cute things.  I found two to top things off.  Can you guess what it is?  That's right hats.  $14.95 each.

So, that is about it for this month.  Basic wardrobe items.  Next month.  I go for colorful items.  If you like to see haul videos or don't please vote in the pole.  So, I will never do this again or if you just want to see nail polish hauls for the month I can do that too.  I realized that I like to see other people's stuff or find out about a good bargain not to scrutinize.  I am also not doing this to say oh, look what I have.  It is just more of I feel a bargain sharing post.  So, I hope you like it and if you don't please comment.  I have gotten some derogatory ones but hey I don't care I can tell by the way it is written it is written by someone very young and I am past all that so I am open to any type of criticism.

Ciao for now,
Patty

October Favorites

October was a LONG month and I ended up ordering a lot of nail polish.  I also found out that they sell Ciate` at Nordstrom.  I love their polish.  I won two giveaway.  YAY!  But it was really hectic and to be honest I really am not crazy about the upcoming two months. Thanksgiving is always weird.  Most of the time we go out to eat.  Xmas is bad because my family is Catholic and I am Jewish and it is just weird.  I won't be at the mall anymore,  I have to shop at weird times and so many times stores put up items I like to buy to make room for Xmas decorations.  I look to October and think of my favorite things mainly my favorite polish Essie Rae and IHeart Pretty Polish suggested that we do our October Favorites.  So, we are going to make this a monthly thing it will be things we review during the month.

5.  My fifth favorite thing this month is that I started polish of the day.  I did a poll and it was really close but a lot of people wanted to see swatches and I thought of course.  When I am going to buy a polish I look for a swatch of the polish if there isn't one.  So, now you can look to see if I ever did it plus it will show up on a search on the Internet.  I also try to post then newest polishes I get so those who read it can see if they like it or not.   And you all know I always tell you where to buy and how much it cost.

4.  My fourth favorite is polish is Butter London's Shag.  I love this color because you can wear it year around and it looks good on any skin color.

3.  My third favorite is Fairy Lights from butter London.  It is just so girly when I wear it I feel so feminine and the formula is just so great.

2.  My second favorite might be a surprise but I really love OPI's "You're a Doll".  It is just so soft and pretty.  It looks like the nail polish an angel would be wearing.

1.  My number one favorite this month has to be Deborah Lippman's  Cleopatra in New York.  It a beautiful jelly black base that has gold glitter.  It is just absolutely love this color.  Everyone should have it.

What is your favorite October favorite polish?
Ciao,
Patty

Polish of Day 26 Yummy Yummy Butter London

This is another neutral that I absolutely love.  it has  a shimmer that just could not be caught on film.  I really hate that.   But I am loving this color.  I see being able to wear it a week.  I can usually get a weeks worth of wear from a polish if I polish correctly and in this case I did so the tips won’t turn white.  I wear polish about two days.  Then freshen with Seche Vite after two days I stamp and wear three more days.    KISS.  This polish is perfect for a week’s worth of wear.  I have a tip I remember from the old days.  We did not have Seche Vite so dry time was always at least half an hour to an hour.  What we used to do is wait around five minutes then stick your hands in a bowl of ice water the longer you keep them in the faster they dry.   If you have a polish that you really love but it takes a while to dry even with Seche Vite try the ice water bowl.  I know just the polish I am going to try it on.
