OPI Press Release Mariah Carey's Line and Swatches

I found this on an OPI website.  It was shown in Canada so I am not real sure if their information will be the same as the US info.  The colors will be the same but release dates can be different and I hope that OPI is not raising their prices to $10.50 a bottle.

Hey, Nicki Minaj, guess what? Mariah’s collaborated with OPI now, too, for her own collection of nail polish — and it’s pretty cool. The eight-shade Mariah Carey by OPI lineup launches in January 2013, a year after the Nicki Minaj OPI set of polishes debuted. The breakdown includes a frosty shade, a creamy shade, a shimmer, a glitter-flakes polish, and four colours with a nifty “Liquid Sand” finish.

“It’s textured nail polish,” OPI executive VP and artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann told a room full of Canadian beauty editors and bloggers this afternoon at the Trump Hotel in Toronto.

“You don’t have to do anything to it, you don’t have to add anything… this is actually how it comes out of the bottle. You don’t put a top coat on it because the matte look is what actually makes it unique [sic],” she said.

“It does take a little bit longer to dry, probably about eight minutes or so, and then you see how the texture comes to the surface.” The four OPI Liquid Sand shades are The Impossible (a sparkly matte fuchsia –sorry, looks more red here), Can’t Let Go (sparkly matte purple), Get Your Number (sparkly matte blue) and Stay the Night (matte black with red sparkles).

From the top, A Butterfly Moment (frosty tan nude), Sprung (shimmery copper), Pink Yet Lavender (pink glitter with lavender shimmer) and Anti-Bleak (deep, creamy purple — and my new obsession).

Look! The Impossible has star confetti in the glitter mix!

The Mariah Carey by OPI collection ($10.95 per polish) will be in salons and spas in January.
What do you think? Can you wait until January? What shade catches your attention most?

Who say’s $5.00 Can’t buy anything?

Today was the last day for the Ulta coupon It was $5.00 off a $10.00 purchase, this is what I got three essence nail polishes, a volumizing powder to use for your eye lashes.  I will do a review on that later.  l always get a essence special top coat.  It was $0.99.  Tot  $5.29.  Pretty Good.

Did you use your Ulta coupon?   if you don’t get them you can print them out from their website.  I had three this month.  The one they sent me and I placed two orders for butter London polishes and in the box they gave me another catalog with $5.00 off.  So, I got three this month and made use of all of them.  Unfortunately the coupon expired to day but there will be a new one on the website and you can print as many as you want and if you live in a big city you can use them at different stores or even the same one, they don’t care.  Anyway, you usually do not get the same people working everytime you go in.  So, take advantage of it.  I know what you are thinking.  What a Jew.  Yes, I can say that because I am.  I used to love to go to Mexico and jew vendors down.  Now, I can say that because I am a Jew but don’t say that to one unless you are one.  It is kind of like.  I can call my mother a bitch but you better not.  Oh, well.  Had a weird day in that I took a shower at 12:00 to get ready to go to Nordstrom because I have an extra bottle of a Lippman, so I was going to exchange it and did not leave till 4:00.  I’ll go tomorrow and swing by American Apparel because their polish is 3 for 15 at the store as apposed to $8.00 on the website.  Also I have my six empties for Mac, $10 off at Bath and Body Works and free Panties from Victoria’s Secret and no I have no problem going in and just getting my free panties.  Oh, by the way I do have a post coming up about panties.  So, look for that this week.

Ciao for now,

Polish of Day 13 Orly's Halley's Comet

Orly's Halley's Comet came out one or two years ago as part of a series of polishes that included the now wildly famous Space Cadet, which is a beautiful color.  I had this polish in my cart on Ebay and Amazon.  It was $11.00 on Ebay and $14.00 on Amazon.  I checked every day to see if the price would go down but no chance.  Then this weekend I went to Ulta and found this polish and it was only $10.00.  The icing was if you buy two you get one free and I had a $5.00 off coupon.  I grabbed and got two other polishes that I had in my ebay cart and went to pay.  I got a good deal on it now I just need one to complete the set but there is another Ulta I can go check out to see if they have it then I would have the set although I am not sure how much it is on ebay but I have to use the $5.00 off coupon by the 20th of October.  So, Halley's comet is a teal that when it grabs the light it turns yellow it is something like Sweet Peacock but with a duo chrome.

The colors in the polish do look different but it is the same polish it is just that this is a duo chrome and different camera angles gave me different colors.  Do you like duo chromes or do you just like your polish to stay one color?

Glimmer by Erica

I have two polishes to show you today.  Both are just beautiful and I might even venture to say that one of them has totally satisfy my wanting Lynnderella’s Cauldron Drippings.  This is Muy Caliente.  It is loaded with gold, black and orange glitters in an orange base.  I used one thing coat of OPI’s On the Same Paige.  Then two coats of Muy Caliente.  I mushed the glitter down when it was pretty dry and put a coat of Essence special top coat.  I absolutely love it.  It is great.  I can wear it during the day or if I want to dress it up I can put some Seche Vite over it.  It was so easy to work with I just love it.  I am no longer checking eBay for Cauldron Drippings.  An added benefit is that if you are like me and not really into Halloween but have to go to some Halloween thing with your familiy you can wear this and still look like you are in the Halloween spirit.  It is going to look great with a suede shirt I just bought.  I really like this one.   Hope it stays around for a while.

The next one I have is Treasure Chest.  This one was a little harder to work with only because the dry time was longer than Muy Caliente.  This one is blingy and I wish I had an underwater camera to take a picture of it because it would look great.  I am kind of getting sick of the same hand poses.  That is why I started adding some rings to my pictures or putting my hands in a bush.  I am coming up with with some other things and my husband built me a light box this weekend and I like it only because I can be in the polish room creating longer.  Usually by the time the sun goes down.  Patty has to go down and wait till the next day to take pictures.  So now with the light box I cant get different backgrounds and use my tripod for taking pictures.   I really would have loved to take this picture underwater because it does look like a treasure chest that you see in the movies.  It has gold, blue, red, and a lighter blue.

Isn’t this one cool too.  Used one coat of OPI Glitzerland and two of Treasure chest.   The clean up was somewhat harder so sorry for some of the loose glue.  I did put Essence special effects top coat on this one too because I was photographing during the day but imagine how it would look with Seche Vite in a dim restaurant.  Girls never under estimate the power of your hands.  I watch this show called Gigolos on Showtime.  It does have sex scenes but it has a storyline.  It is about five guys working in VEGAS (I LOVE VEGAS).    it is about guys who work together the thing is that their business is having sex with women and not the typical woman we think hire a gigolo.  They talk about what turns them on about a woman and they all agreed sexy hands or a woman who knows how to use her hands.  One of the gigolos says what a lot of guys don’t realize that he does is that he has ten little penis’s.  His hands, so hands are important.  Studies have been done and men who see a well manicured had are drawn to that woman more than one who has nothing on her hands.  Before I got married to my present husband he asked me to promise I would always have my nails painted.  I always did but sometimes after you get married you let yourself go.  I said of course.   So, now he has only himself to blame for  this addiction.  Some manicures are just not his style but if I am wearing one he especially likes he makes sure everyone we see, sees my manicure.  He is so funny and that is why I love him.    So, what every you wear, wear something.

Polish of Day 12 Butter London Billy No Mates

This was one of the new colors for fall from Butter London. It went on like a dream and dried like one too. The only complaint I have about butter London is their packaging. You have to shake the bottle if it looks a little separated and you just cant do that with a square bottle. So after I use mine I always give them a good shake so the next time I use it it is ready to go because it is so true if you shake then use you will get bubbles. I did not know this for a long time and I got to the point where I felt I just could not give myself a manicure and that is why I started getting those horrible acrylics but now that I know I am able to have the polish go on like a dream and it doesn't matter if it is the most expensive or a cheaper polish if you don't shake you wont get bubbles. So, here is No Mates.

So, I really like this color it is not gray but it is not blue it is a combination but it is fall.  I could see that because it does have dark undertones even though it is a light color.  It probably has a hint of black in it making it look like a cooler color rather than warm.  I love it and I think it was a good buy.

Whimsical by Pam

I don’t like to be partial but there are some indies that I really am partial to three I can think of right off the bat and a new one.  With that will I have three new polishes to show you by Whimsical by Pam.  I just want to say that if you haven’t not done business with Pam you will  find that she is so easy to work with easy to get a hold of and just down right good people.  I never buy three polishes at a time usually I just buy two but I get treated the same as if I was buying six or seven.  The bottles of her polish are also so cute and I am a real sucker for a cute bottle and her bottles are so cute.

So, even though I don’t like Halloween when I saw this polish.  I HAD to have it.  I wore it on Sunday and everywhere I went a girl noticed it and said something about it.  What I did was I used one coat of OPI’s Greenwich Village.  Then rolled on two coats of Wicked.  I did not really consider this a Halloween polish I was thinking more of the play Wicked which I was lucky enough to see.  I really enjoyed it.   I really feel that Pam captured the play in this polish

Isn’t it just totally cool.  I love this polish.  I can’t wait to show it to my nieces.  I went to see Wicked with them and they were explaining to me what was going on.  The only down side was that I had just been released from the hospital and was in my very depressed mode but this seemed to help temporarily.

The next one is called Sweet Baby James.  If you are my age you know who James Taylor is if you are not you might have heard your parents talk  about him  He was a great folk singer in the 1970’s.  You might know the song Fire and Rain.  Well he also wrote Sweet Baby James.  I totally will put James Taylor’s Greatest Hits CD on and it will replay four times before I realize it is time to change the CD.  That Is me  I really like him probably one of my favorite artists.  So when I saw Sweet Baby James of course I had to have it.  It is light blue with pink and white glitters.  What I did was use one coat of Deborah Lippmann's Let’s Hear it For the Boy as panties and used two coats of Sweet Baby James.  I am finding that using this method  works very well.

Kimber's Challenge Marbling

I really like to do marbling the only problem I have is that my husband loves keep the apartment in Arctic temperatures and my water is usually really cold so I have to put it in the microwave.  So, the next thing is really finding the right size of container to use.  One person on YouTube said a shot glass was the best but nope I had no luck then I tried a tea cup and it was too large but what did work was a plastic urine sample cup I had for some reason I just can't remember and it worked great.  So, I had a really easy marbling today.  I used a-England Lady of the Lake, Dragon and Princess Sabra's Tears.  I could have used something else but I wanted the holo look and I did kind of cry every time I dropped a bit of polish in the water but the effects were worth it and the bottles are still 3/4 full.

So, usually marbling is done with creams how do you feel they look with holo polish?  Or do you like it better in creams?
